Getting to the SB is not easy. Winning a SB is even harder.
Pete has done great things in his career, but boy ... how will this decision influence the way people see him?
There is no reasonable explanation for this. NONE that makes sense.
Pete failed clearly on this decision.

It's about how he responds to this catastrophe.

If he reforms with a new OC and new offensive philosophy, then my opinion of him won't change much. If he puts one man over the franchise, then he's tainted. The team has to come first. The fans have to come first. We pay him a fortune to make the hard decisions, now he has one to make.

Pete made the call but Wilson could have audibled out if he wanted right? He also made a bad pass.

Give him his fair share of blame too.

True. Pete could have called a TO though as they had 2 left after seeing what was going on but you are right. That is on Bevell way more than Carroll

How was that pass terrible. That pass was right in the window where it had to be. Your receiver has to run through it and not let the corner beat you to it.

Do you think talking heads and Sports radio will blame it on Bevell? Most people don't even know who Bevel is ...
We are stuck with him, cause he ain't getting no head coaching job.
Pete won't fire him either.
This is on Pete. Period. 20 seconds from the SB win. You have your best RB, you have an athletic QB who can sneak. You need inches (not yards) ... and you call a throw?

Do you even take the risk of the pass? The ball could have been deflected, batted up in the air, ... etc.
Why even take that risk? WHY? WHY? WHY?

They had one TO left, not two.

I think Pete's a great coach but not elite. This is at least the 2nd bone headed offensive play call that will be remembered from a championship. The rosebowl game where they only put in LenDale White without Reggie Bush on 4th and 2 (so everyone sold out for White) was another bone headed play call. Better talent was the Seahawks today even as banged up as they were. But they weren't perfectly coached, Wright 1 on 1 on Gronk? common.

If Pete doesn't fire bevell after this I'm retroactively assigning him blame for "the call"

Agree with this but again, just hand the ball off, win the Owl and it simply doesn't freaking matter!

KJ Wright one on one on any TE is a mismatch. Not sure why we do that.
Manning almost killed us with that play.
