Basically in Lehman terms .. "sharps" are the gambling experts.. they typically make their bets prior to kickoff. The general public, bets much earlier than that .. and typically the public side of the coin comes up short.

Line is now a pick em or Seahawks -1 at most books.

Again....3rd best rushing offense ever. 600 yards of offense last time we played in this stadium. Pats have no chance.

Probably waiting to see if they'd get an extra point or two against NE.

75% of the public money was on New England as of this morning btw.

(This bodes well for Seattle)

Unfamiliar with gambling, why is this good for us?

Because the people who make a living betting on sports know that the Seahawks are going to win this game.

Because (if you talk with the sharpies that do this for a living and you can get them to be honest), the public money is the "Sheep" or "dumb" money and generally loses. As a basic guideline, if the sharpies (pros) are betting one way and the public is betting the other, bet against the public.

...and they wait until nearly the last minute to maximize their action. If the public is going to drive the points away from who they're on, they'll rake it in. If the public is right and the line collapses, they'll bet less.
