Rob pointed out on his awesome Seahawks Draft Blog that Hill has five sacks in the past five games. Sure, he's helped by playing next to Michael Bennett, but the dude knows how to find the QB, finishes nicely, and holds his own in the run. Hill is holding the one-tech down hard.

He's a lesser version of Lou Gehrig to Mebane's Wally Pipp.

Bane is a 1st and 2nd down guy, Hill is a 3rd down guy. Hill has been playing very well of late though, good to see him healthy finally.

Not really. Mebane was playing Nose Tackle this season, not 3-Tech. But Hill should now be earning the 3-Tech job. He looks good there for sure.

True that. Kevin Williams took over Mebane's role.

Jordan Hill took Clinton McDonald's job. They both look great when the OL is double teaming Bennett.

Yup. The great news is that we have found our starting 3-Tech for next year.

All the reps that Hill is taking are at the 1 tech position. Most are in the nickel D, but he's been getting some snaps on early downs as well in place of Williams at times. He hasn't been lining up between gaurd and tackle at all.

And no one is taking that job from Bane on run downs. No one....

Hill didn't replace Mebane, we finally got our 3rd down pass specialist. He replaced Clinton McDonald.

Yup. Early in the year we missed McDonald.

I would love to have Mebane too though!

Hill is a nickel player. He's filled Clinton McDonald's role from last year. No shame in that. That's what he was drafted for, and he's balling out. However, Mebane he is not.

Seattle had a tough time getting interior pressure in the first half, there was no push at all from the interior DL vs. the pass. In the second half Seattle changed things up and started stunting and blitzing inside more with outstanding results.

I think Hill is an opportunist, similar to Malcolm Smith last year when he had something like 4 picks in 5 games, including two pick sixes. Malcolm Smith even won SB MVP. All that, and we started to wonder if Smith might be a breakout player. Instead, he's barely even played this season. With Hill it's similar, I'm not seeing domination from him, just a good ability to make the layups when the supporting cast offers them up.

Still, even this is more than I expected from Hill entering the season.

I'd still love to see Seattle add a Danny Shelton type this offseason, we need more push in the middle right now. It is remarkable how devastating this defense is when they get pressure. If they could create interior pressure without having to manufacture it, this would become the scariest defense of all time.

Can't we have both?? Jeez...

One of the keys to our defense is the depth of our rotation. Hill's increasing impact doesn't make Mebane expendable. Mebane is a baller and this team needs him. We're just working around and making do very nicely lately.

See, this is where my understanding of the DL is fuzzy, I guess. I thought Hill played the 1-tech, but everyone is right. He's actually playing the 3-tech and taking over as the inside pass rusher that Clint McDonald was. That's awesome.

Don't be so hard on yourself, Smell. It was still the smartest post you've ever made...and I mean by far!

Yes of course; I was being ironical. Or magically delicious. I can't decide.

It looks like 2015 will be the first draft in my living memory where I think "PLEASE OH PLEASE OH PLEASE DRAFT A DT!".

Even when I was desperate for O-Line in 2010-11 and WR in 2012-14, DT has always been up there as a hole needing filled. Now we actually look pretty set - yeah, finding a long-term replacement for Kevin Williams, but then again, that guy could probably play another decade if he wanted!
