Former Texas A&M QB Jerrod Johnson is an intriguing prospect as Wilson's backup. He threw at Texas A&M pro day this year so while he has been out of football for a year or two because of a shoulder injury he could be brought in here to compete. Johnson is 6-5 240 lbs and he is an athletic QB that can run.

Here is a some highlights of him from a couple years ago to refresh your memory of him,

Well wouldn't be a bad idea to at least kick the tires on the guy.

We'll need a couple of guys for training camp. You need 3 or 4 just to keep the arms fresh and to run all of the drills they do. I'm sure we'll draft a QB somewhere this year, and probably go UDFA for guys like this.

Bring them on!

Only one QB named Johnson has ever won a Super Bowl. Pass.

J Johnson was terrible at A&M. This is a non-story.

Chill out, with the non-story remark. We are just talking about prospects or players to bring in off the street to come in to compete...Brandon Browner is a prime example. Yes, Johnson was bad his senior year and was benched, but go look at his stats his junior year, http://www.cfbstats.com/2009/player/697 ... index.html, not too bad for a guy that we could bring into mini-camp to compete as a 2nd or 3rd string guy.

It wasn't just that Johnson was bad, it was the way he was bad. It was like he lost his interest in playing football. Even during the draft process, it was like he just didn't care.

After his junior year, I was driving his bus too.
