I always liked him. Thought he would be Boldin 2.0.

Hope he makes the roster Williams/Walters

I don't know anything about Doucet, but I would be a little surprised if anyone signed in August would make our roster at WR. I think he is here just to ensure competition for the last couple spots, because previous to his signing, the 6 man WR group looked almost set before the 1st game preseason game, and that probably didn't sit well with Pete.

We make fun of the 49ers for poaching our unwanted WRs, I wonder if Arizona fans feel the same about us? We've picked up two of their castoffs this offseason.

We probably brought him in to skim his knowledge of the Arizona playbook.

Doesn't this guy return punts and kicks?
Maybe that's why he's here?

After losing Harvin for 3-4 months, shut down the receivers needed for the real games and let some guys play who are looking to showcase themselves possibly for other rosters.

I'd say that he has less than a 10% chance of making the team. Even Christine Michael has volunteered to do anything that puts him on the field.

No, he's not a return man. Below average athlete with no play-making ability.

I think this signing does a number of things for us.

Increases competition at WR spot

Insurance- can come back mid-way through the year or make 53 if there's injuries

Gives our guys on defense a WR with a different skill set to go up against

So if he has a great day against our CB's, you could say that the Early bird gets the Sherm.

You could say it, but you don't have to.

He had some pretty good catches in 2011, and 2012 doesn't matter at all. Just look at Fitzgerald last year.

I remember a few years ago, when the hawks were relying on Ruvell Martin, a 1-kneed Koren, and the guy we gave up a pick to the Panthers for who was Awful.

Doucet probably won't make the team, and he'd have been the #1 on that 2008 squad by week 3. Times have changed.
Was it Keary Colbert?

Also, was that the Michael Bumpus year?

To those who say that he can't beat out Williams or Kearse. What have those guys done that Doucet hasn't to this point? Doucet has proven himself as a legitimate WR in the league. Someone pointed out that he had 54 receps and 689 yards in 2011. That would have been in the top three for Seahawks the past couple of years. Neither Williams nor Kearse have proven they can do that. Competition is good so it will be interesting to see how the final WR corps look like.

Doucet had one moderately productive season two years ago. Beyond that he's "proven" to be a significantly drop-prone bust with no athleticism, no versatility, no special teams ability, and a long injury history. It's not simply about what you've done, it's what you're capable of doing moving forward. Williams and Kearse (by all accounts) have had strong camps, are younger than Doucet, more athletic than Doucet, have better hands than Doucet, and have substantially more long-term upside than Doucet. There's no chance of the Hawks investing a roster spot in a guy like Doucet when they have countless other options with significantly better potential, if not the same amount of actual game experience.

He probably won't make the final roster, but he's better competition than some of the other WRs we brought in for camp fodder.

Lets be honest, none of them will be on the roster 2 years from now.

We don't know that, and in the case of Kearse, I completely disagree. But regardless, that still doesn't change who Doucet is (or isn't).

Yes on both counts, with a little Billy Mcmullin for the hat trick and the win
