Stephen A is right on the money though...and his comments mirror alot of people here during the offseason on Wilson will get paid higher because that is the market for QBs.

When talking about Wilsons contract he said 60 mil guaranteed would be the floor and that hes definately worth more than Cutler and Romo getting 55 or so mill guarenteed

Skip, like most clueless fans when it comes to Wilson, put Wilsons success on Lynch and that defense....well Lynch was pretty awful this year, the defense wasnt as good, and Wilson had the best year of his career. Also said he isnt a good pocket passer which for whatever reason has been the narrative his entire career. I would say he is a very good pocket passer when he actually gets a pocket but his pocket awarness hasnt been the best because the Oline has been terrible and he usually elects to run around instead of stepping up

ITs funny but if Skip or any so called expert actually did their homework they would have found that Wilson has one of the highest completion % and Qb ratings in the Pocket in the NFL and that is not just now but for his career and each year individually. However they do not and just need to have something negative to say so well there they have it

This^.... It's pure laziness on Skippy's part, because he let the 'Know Nothings' define his point of view, and how being ONLY 5'-10 5/8", it's just not possible to have the ability to compete with Quarterbacks that are 4 to 8 inches taller, so without taking the time to do a little research, he makes a broad brush 'OPINION' statement that has proven him to be a fool.
One can only imagine what's spinning around in that echo chamber that should be housing a brain, after seeing what happened with RW's passing game since Marshawn Lynch & Jimmy Graham have had been out of the conversation.
There's not much, (if any) wiggle room that can support any arguments of the Russell Wilson detractors...They've pretty much squandered their credibility as talent evaluators for the Quarterback position, or should I say, that it was Russell Wilson's extraordinary abilities that will force them to revise their overall parameters of what it takes to be ONE of the best to ever play the game.
This is a new conversation avenue.

He might've been a bit off when he said Wilson was a below average pocket passer, but he wasn't far off. Wilson was a maybe above average pocket passer but not great.

This year he's made incredible strides, and look at the difference in performance. Also, look at how his rushing attempts and yardage have gone way down. He hasn't needed to run.

It's also revisionist history to bring this up now. This was in June, when a lot of people were thinking the exact same thing. Honestly, if Wilson had any stretches from the pocket like he had this year, in previous years, the contract would've been a no brainer deal done more quickly.

If people haven't figured it out by now, Bayless makes his hay by being contrarian. And it's not just against Seahawks. You tune in to watch him because it fuels your angst and hate for him. It also works.

How do you have multiple years of having a 100+ QB rating inside the pocket yet be average in the pocket....Im sure alot of other teams would take that "average" QB pocket play all day.

I never understood our own fans underrating his pocket play..I mean this article is from 3 years ago

http://www.fieldgulls.com/seahawks-anal ... n-jaworski

It points out....

Wilson's completion rate on passes from inside the pocket is an excellent 64.5% (198 of 305 for 2,449 yards), for 8.0 yards per attempt, 22 touchdowns to 8 interceptions. Let's write that again.

Wilson's completion rate on passes from inside the pocket is 64.5% (198 of 305 for 2,449 yards), for 8.0 yards per attempt.

Conversely, ... well, not conversely, because he's very good outside the pocket too,.. additionally, on passes outside the pocket, he's 69 of 114 for 856 yards (60.5%) with 7.5 ypa. 5 TD to 2 interceptions.

That YPA stat from inside the pocket alone can tell you that despite what the national media narrative will tell you this week, Russell Wilson can and does pass from the pocket well, and looking at the other numbers tells you that he does pass from the pocket a majority of the time. His completion percentage and yards per attempt from there are both very good, and moreover, 22 of his 27 touchdown passes came from within the pocket.

As Sando writes, "Note to self: The fact that a quarterback moves well doesn't mean he should be perceived as one lacking the skills traditional passers possess. The templates we've used in categorizing quarterbacks must change as players such as Wilson defy them." I will remember that too, Mike.
