Lets hope Winfield will look and play better than he did during the preseason, if/when he is signed.

I keep hearing different things. Has Thurmond dropped his appeal yet or is he going to AFTER the Saints game?

Things that are uncertain:

1) Whether or not Thurmond is going to strategically drop his appeal so he can play in the Saints game
2) Whether or not Browner is suspended for substance abuse
3) Whether or not Winfield was signed.

We'll likely know all of this tomorrow when Pete meets with the media.

So let me get this straight... Winfield is older than dirt. He is going to not play all year, sign with us, practice for a few days, then play nickel against the Saints?

Good luck with that.

Can't be picky this time of the year and Trufant is not an option in my opinion. so you take Winefield hope that his experience makes up for his lack of speed and see what happends.

Not the best scenerio but what other viable option do we actually have this late in the season?

I told PC on Twitter that I am available and younger than Winfield but looks like he prefers a veteran that knows the game even if he is a step slow...

Not thrilled about Winfield (really slow), but he's one of few available that has experience in the slot. Oh well, hopefully he just gives sideline guidance to Maxwell.

PFF rated him as a top corner last year.

Maxwell and Lane... very good viable option.

Winfield would come in to afford depth as the year continues.

My take is simple:

Winfield has skills beyond his physical attributes which will address needs on the team. All things considered, I feel more comfortable with AW than I do looking at what else is available. Sure, he'll get thrown at, but passes caught within 10-15 yards of the LOS and quickly tackled are better than 30-yard bombs for a TD.

The thing that concerns me is the continuity factor on D. Losing guys that are part of the non-spoken communications aspect hurts the most.

Perish Cox will visit today too.

I heard this on Nwcn this morning. I also heard the talk with Clayton. I kinda like what Clayton brings to the NFL world. He is a good outspoken person in that respect in MY EYEs.

I am new to the site and have a question for our DB concerns. Why not Nnamdi Asomugha, or has he been picked up yet? He plays excellent man coverage, couldnt hurt to work him out.

Yeah, it could have always have been the system. Couldn't hurt to bring him in.
