As someone who has diabetes, I really appreciate his dedication to the cause. I'd much rather have the haircut than diabetes. Of course it would look pretty funny on a 55 year old, grey haired, balding, fat man.

I know his father died from complications related to diabetes so i understand he is earnest. I applaud the effort but I don't understand what awareness is needed beyond an awareness that far more research is needed or what a haircut has to do with it.

All part of awareness. Some will donate directly others later in the year. Regardless you tie in a famous person and something he does to the cause. Cutting the hair has proven to resonate better with the public than athletes cutting their toenails.....

Again... I applaud his effort and know that he is sincere. I would like to see his efforts generate more dialogue. Before I was diagnosed last year I was aware of the disease but didn't actually know anything about it.
