Keep your emotions in check. Pete is obviously a great players coach but he calls plays based on emotion. Did I like the 4th and 1 call when we were down 13-0? Absolutely I did, however, that is why I am not coaching in the NFL. Why? because it is a stupid call. Too early in the game to pull that BS.

In the Rams game where he called a onside kick is another example. It was like an attempt to get back at Fisher for the previous meeting where they had the fake punt for the touchdown. Don't play those stupid emotional games Pete.

Wilson's demeanor doesn't ever change he is always cool, calm and collected. Carroll always looks like a caged animal pacing back and forth. I wish that the voice of Field of Dreams would come through Pete's headset. "If you get in field goal range, take the points."

Don't get me wrong I like him as a coach but I would love for someone to come and slap him for some of his decisions.

Weird thing is - there are games when he is very conservative. Punts instead of taking long FG's. Plays for field position. Conservative game plan.

Then there are the onside kick(s) vs the Rams and today's panicky 4th and 1 attempt. I like a good fourth down attempt as much as anyone, but I hated that call. Take the points, try and build. We were in the exact same position last week and took the three. This week, forcing the issue. It seems like every now and again Pete makes a very aggressive call when he just needs to take a moment.

I think the onside against the Rams was a great call it caught them off guard and it was after a 15 yard penalty moved us closer. Today I didn't like the 4th and 1 call I thought it was a bit of a panic move and of course we can say it cost us the game but honestly if we kick the FG the game is different from that point on and different events would have unfolded.

I wish Pete would have taken the three points, I also don't think we managed the clock well at the end of the half you could say that was on Wilson for taking the sack.

Hell of a season and with this club being so young they should keep getting better.

I wanted to say one more thing in regards to Pete and the 4th and one, if Lynch needs a blow there why not call a time out instead of letting Turbin take the ball on the option ? Not sure if that was the play where Pete ran onto the field or not but they have to see Lynch coming off and get the time out called if you want to run for the new set of downs there.

I think he makes a concerted effort to be conservative because he knows his emotions get the best of him sometimes. Unfortunately I think he made some bad calls today. I'm fine with going for it on 4th, but the 3rd and 4th down calls were pretty bad. Clock management was pretty bad as well.

I'm not sure it's something that can really be "fixed" without giving Cable or someone veto power, which seems like a bad idea.

My biggest issue with the 4th down call.. if you know already you're going for it on 4th and 1.. why not line up with 2 TE's and Lynch/Turbin in the backfield and run some play action? Even in the gun, the Falcons had to know it was going to be a read option play.

I actually loved the decision to go for it.. it was 13-0 but felt like 40-0 .. just think the playcalling was awful. Either ram Lynch twice or playaction pass then Lynch.

Going for it on fourth is like a two-headed monster. Coaches are criticized to the fullest if they go for it and don't make it, however, if we would have made the conversion it would either be the highlight of the day or not spoken about whatsoever.

If we make the 4th and 1, its a huge momentum thing for us, and takes the crowd out a little. Didnt pan out. I like the call, just didnt care for the play. Should have rolled Russ out, he would have picked it up on his own.

yea I didn't get it but I am not going to get all bent at Pete as his accomplishments far outweigh his bonehead moves, although it was right up there with his onside early this season and maybe a few others Pete is still growing as an NFL Head Coach and the responsibility at this level is enormous

the fact not proudly kicking both of those field goals is telling your defense you're not good enough and we need the seven down 20 points with an entire half to go cuz your just that kind of defense, very bad call even if you make the 6 you are still saying that to your defense..

Pete got caught up in the emotion and intense level of this game, saying to Atl, yea 3 is fine for us, would have been a big stab at their entire team..

I don't get that philosophy? I thought Pete was an "earn it all" type of guy? getting the first on 4th is basically stealing a first down or TD, you get 3 downs, if you don't get the first you punt or kick the FG! thats professional football in America, always been that way..

the Hawks DON'T need a hand out.

sorry Pete thats just how I feel, I know if you could take it back you prolly would, well at least the one... lol

all in all a GREAT season and I expect you come back reinvigorated with an even larger playbook more experience and relaxed..

tell you what if the Hawks gained anything this year its respect, even after the loss everyone at the Casino was like, WOW, "did you see that Seahawks game" it wasn't the Falcons game it was the Seahawks game, everywhere they were "man those Seahawks"..

BY FAR the most exciting team this season

on paper the Hawks may be the 4th or 5th best team in the NFL, but #1 in my mind... ;)

I HATE the call and will stand firm in my opinion that it cost us the game........ I just flipped the coin over to see what was on the other side. Oh if that play worked Pete is a hero. Now he is just a scape goat. A deserving one I may add.

i thought the same thing at first but that is not true from what i see. the end didn't fully commit to the run, he really didn't have because the line got blown up so bad. wilson MAY have outrun him to the edge, but he would have had to have taken such an extreme wide circle around its hard to say who would caught up with the play otherwise. (assuming you mean playaction rollout of course, which it almost always is) it was a bad playcall i think. i think we should have gotten up to the line to try and draw them offsides, if they didn't jump then take a time out and get a well thought out play call in. maybe by that time pete would have reconsidered and chose to kick anyways. hindsight says that was the definite call to be made, but i think critics need to understand that a touchdown in that situation makes the game a virtual lock for down seven or tied by midway third quarter, based on our offensive performance. the fact that we got stonewalled twice around the ten yard line and got zero points just points to the fact that we were not meant to win this game. think about that for a minute. have you ever seen a team, on the road, playing the #1 team in a particular conference, get zero points from two possessions around the ten yd line AND lose a fumble around the other team's 35, and then end up winning the game? i'd venture to bet those circumstances added together have a nearly 100% certainty of losing the game. the fact that we came back in and of itself was astronomically unbelievable.

I absolutely loved the call on 4th and one. Loved it beforehand - and was hollering for it before they called it - and loved it even in retrospect. I'd have drawn up a different play, but it was absolutely the right call to make. Besides, we were perfect on third or fourth and one to go so far. That was our only such failed attempt on the season.

That said, I'd have put the ball in Wilson's hands. Let him make the play, whether by pass or run. They'll do that next year because they know he's the man.

I was totally all for going for it on 4th & 1. I was not for handing the ball the Robinson on that play or putting turbin in on the 3rd and 1. Pete made the right decision it just didn't pan out. You guys would have a totally different tune had we converted and got a TD that drive.

4th and 1? I'm waiting for Pete to admit it was one of his "hormonal moments" where he ... in his words ... "goes macho". Hate the call and hate even more the play they called. Straight up the just gut wasn't working!!
