According to both TMZ and The Oakland Press, McDowell will spend the next 11 months in jail and within 90 days also has to write four essays ranging in length from 750 to 1,000 words on topics such as “Finding Meaning In Life Other Than Committing Crimes,’’ “Principles of Declaration of Independence and How Your Behavior Undermines Them,” “Importance of Respecting the Rule of Law’’ and “Importance of Respecting Property Rights.’’

........................ I hope McDowell completes those written assignments on time and that it changes his life for the better.

I'll bet that writing four coherent essays is going to be extremely difficult for him. He will pay someone to do it. I especially enjoyed his comments about getting back to the NFL. Dude is delusional.

Umm, he probably has blown all his money, which is why he is out doing stupid shit and committing property crimes.
Really appreciate a judge that gives sentences like that. Since he does that a fair amount, I'm guessing he probably has a way of verifying the authenticity of the inmate's work, like asking them to explain certain parts of it to him during court, asking him to explain the process of how he wrote it, etc. McDowell supposedly went to class at MSU, so we'll see if he learned anything. His comments about getting back to the NFL... whatever gives the dude hope, and maybe now he understands the privilege he threw away, and has a reason to put in some work. If all it does is make him a person who is not a threat to society, never to the NFL again, that's still a win.

Watching the video, he's really lucky his stupid altercation where he attacked the cop didn't turn into suicide by cop.
