now imagine him with Avril/Bennett and a QB waiting for WRs to try and get open against our secondary

Also imagine him on a defensive front where he's not playing 90% of the snaps and not getting double teamed all the time.

how so? i mean the 22 sack season was an outlier

Here's his last 6 years....
11.5
12
22
11
14.5
14.5

He's not getting better, but he's also been the only pass rusher on a mediocre to poor defensive team for some time.

He did all that while being double teamed all game. What happens if teams reside to double him next year? Bennett and Avrils numbers to up, and if they just single block Allen, his numbers will go up. Pick your poison NFC west.

The guy has been playing in front of one of the worst secondary's in the whole NFL!
Never mind that their LBer's are average at best.
He still had 11.5 sacks last year, on a losing team.
I think he'll be just fine.

And we can look forward to a bunch of comments about how they "should have paid this money to Tate"

I kid, I kid.....

I just saw the news break and had to hop on to add nothing of importance and say, "YES!"... Apparently he's signing for significantly less than Ware or Peppers.

My favorite part of reading the article on ESPN was reading the sportsnation poll question, which asked if this was a good move or a bad move - the response was 91% in favor of the signing with almost 10,000 votes cast. It doesn't mean anything but I'd never seen such a disparity!

But I thought this front office was waiting too long? Funny how things work out. Best front office in football, period.

Maybe. If Miller can come back from the broken scapula injury.

Saw this on the 49er board.

Jeff Deeney‏ @PFF_Jeff1
Not the exact same position, but Aldon Smith had 55 QB pressures in 289 pass rushes last year, J. Allen had 65 pressures in 649 pass rushes.

Still goona wrekt ish up though.

Aldon is a dominant player, but is also the primary source of their rush. We're not paying Allen to be Aldon.

Little brother syndrome. Always have to find a way to try and make themselves feel a little bit better about 2nd/3rd place in the NFC West.

I'm very curious to see what the terms of this contract are.

But damn, our D is gonna be stacked. I think we'll be just fine next year. Can't wait to see what Allen can do on our team.

Now hurry up and release the official news of him signing and the numbers!!!
