The Kearse at the Clink.

:13:

I like it quite a bit ... but I have a couple of problems about that name:

1) It highlights two players and only one play. Yes, the Kearse TD was huge ... but so was the 2 Pt. Conversion ... the Fake FG ... the onside kick ... etc. There were, what, upwards to 8 different impossible things that happened in that game. If just one of those doesn't happen, the Hawks lose.

2) Names that tend to span the test of time are really short (i.e. The Icebowl, The Miracle on Ice, Music City Miracle, The Immaculate Reception, The Catch, The Tip, etc.)

That's why I kind of favor "The Im-Possi-Bowl".

Doesn't that pretty much sum up everything we saw and felt yesterday? The odds said that it was impossible for the Hawks to win. I dunno. Just my .02

Yeah, but RW and Kearse were the primaries responsible for getting the 'Hawks into that hole, and they're the ones that put us up for good. Sooo...

The Kearse at the Clink

Or

The Kearse of Russell Wilson

Hauscha just muffed that onside kick (he was 1 for 4 lifetime on those) ... Mike Williams just bobbled the ball. ... Luke Wilson just dropped that 2 Pt. Conversion. I'm just sayin ...

You guys don't think much of "The Improbabowl"?

Personally, I think Kamcussinator hit the nail right on the head. It's short, concise, and captures in one word the essence of that game.

I actually love the Improbabowl.

Discount Double Choke is hilarious but not the kind of think you'll hear in an NFL Films Highlight video.

Totally. To me, either "The Im-prob-a-bowl" ... or The "Im-Possi-Bowl" pretty much captures what we saw and felt yesterday.

More on Facenda's level:

The Fates Conspire / The Conspiracy Of The Fates
The Mid-Day Dawn
The Sundown Sunrise
The Inexplicable
The Conslusion
The Heartstopper

...and one non-Sabol straggler that doesn't fully apply to 93% of the game we just saw, but has for most of the season:

Wilson Of God

Alright ... here's another that's rattling around inside my noggin ...

The Emerald City Epic

the more I think about it though ... the more I begin to like The Rain City Redemption. Somehow, that just seems right.

I doubt this game will ever get a nickname because all I have heard today is that Super Bowl XLIX participants are the Patriots and NOT Green Bay.

We got a winner.
Agree
this is it!

+1, +2 (my wife loved it too).

Enough of the immaculate this or that crap. Why bite off another well known NFL nickname, it just cheapens the value. This is why I love 'The Tip' vs the immaculate deflection/redemption.

Good Job :)

p.s. It also works because it was indeed raining a lot that day (and at least through portions of the game).

The 65 or so minutes played in the NFC CG felt like Tom Hanks multi-year struggle in Cast Away crunched into a football game.

The battle on the grid-iron felt like a real life version of Helm's Deep.

It was simple an amazing chain of moments.

I think any variation of

Rain City
Jet City
Emerald City

With

Miracle
Redemption
Comeback

Would be okay.

Just new ideas to the cloud of thoughts:

The Escape,

The Survival,

Or if this becomes a movie someday:

A Talon of Hope: A Story Of Grit

Heard one on 710 yesterday. I have mixed feelings about it, because once again it tries to minimize credit due the Seahawks, but it also rubs salt in the wound.
