Yeah it's because Google tracks the searches you make and the sites you visit. It's kind of disgusting, really.

It's pretty easy to avoid, but you have to go out of your way to do it.

Does running four different kinds of browsers in various states count as paranoid?

Well, I don't know how to wipe tracking cookies on an Iphone. That's how to get rid of that ad-crap on a PC though, in case anybody was interested.
