The whole league is playing a lot of big nickle.
We're now gonna move toward a big dime.

Sounds like a great way to get the most out of what Browner does best.hawknation2016":3tb9goqc said:pehawk":3tb9goqc said:[tweet]https://twitter.com/Curtis_Crabtree/status/725057821901873153[/tweet]
Short yardage situations and red zone would be my guess. I'm excited about seeing some potential minor scheme adjustments to match the talent and depth on the defensive roster.

Yeah, that's kind of what I was getting at. Is he going to play in the slot with Lane outside in certain situations? Or maybe a bigger package with Sherm/Browner/Shead as the 3 CB's in the nickel? I know we used to play Milloy at LB in nickel/dime packages, but I can't see KJ or Wagner coming off the field, really in any of those situations. We kind of did that because we didn't have LB's. The only player that might come off would be Kam, and I wouldn't agree with that trade either. I'm still having a hard time as seeing this as anything other than a guy that could potentially compete to play RCB in nickel/dime situations.pehawk":1kvfr9lb said:Tical21":1kvfr9lb said:Linebacker? I cant see him at LB too much. Not sure how well he could move laterally and/or shed blocks well enough.
My flyover hunch on clues would be AZ. They routinely roll out 5-6 DB/Hybrids. It may be a big nickel version of that.

I need to go back and watch the tape, but i don't recall him being particularly effective against TE while he was here.
I get the reasoning, but i'm not sure there will be enough room on the final 53 for a specialist like that.

Historically abused in zones. Seems outside his wheelhouse. Maybe you use him as some sort of LB/SS/NCB hybrid if there's a great receiving TE in the game; that might work. But again, I think it would have to be very situational and opponent-dependent.

I can see teams adjusting to the dynamic TE's and taller WR by covering them with the Brandon Browner types or drafting the Tanner MacEvoy types. I would love to see us pick MacEvoy to cover the Big mismatches and eventually take over at SS. He has elite length and agility and he is considered one of the more intelligent prospects. Get him.
