It spreads things out, allows 1-on-1 matchups and has a track record of success. A coaching staffs job is to put players in the best position to win. They did that Sunday. Players have to execute and we came up a bit shy in that dept. Sunday.

Asking Russ to make quick throws all day behind a line he can't consistently see over, and which cannot create consistent passing lanes for him to throw, is not setting him up to succeed. It doesn't play to Wilson's strengths at all. And sticking to two or three concepts for an entire game doesn't set ANYONE up to succeed.

There are other ways to handle pressure, none of which Bevell tried more than once. I don't remember a lot of screens, designed bootlegs/rollouts, or bubble screens to people not named Doug Baldwin.

The Rams' DL is good, and it makes sense to avoid certain things. But I just think Bevell conceded too much to that defense before the game even started. A lot of the success Wilson did have was from the hurry-up against soft zone, so Wilson's stats defy the scheme a bit.

The offense had our team in a great spot to win that game on the road. We slipped up on D and took a loss. We will be back and our coaching staff has the wherewithal to lead us to the division title. I'm not worried a bit

That % has come with different plays than what we saw Sunday.

And that is just an awful stat to use in defense of a play-caller. It's akin to saying "Bevell is awesome because we've won two Super Bowl championships with him". No, we've won them because of Wilson's improvisational abilities. How many of those 3rd down empty backfields were salvaged by Wilson's legs?
You've got to be kidding.

The whole point of a formation like this is to stretch the field, creating running lanes and open space. Our mobile quarterback often utilizes those running lanes and that open space. It's not a coincidence, it's just common sense. Bevell is putting Wilson in a position to take advantage of his strengths. You're making it sound like it's a happy accident.

Clearly, Wilson has a unique skillset and Bevell has nothing to do with that. However, Bevell is also playing to his personnel's strengths. It's complementary.
