Season opener in New England....who is the opponent

If the Texans trade JJ Watt for Jimmy Garrapollo, that would be a great opener.

Revisiting the call - last play of Super Bowl XLIX

"but how can you possibly fault the call when there is past evidence and experience verifying that this call had a high potential of winning the Seahawks the Super Bowl." Good post, but the fault in the call is that the Seahawks had run it in the past and thus the Patriots had practiced for it...

    Stolen signals?

The Patriots were not penalized for stealing signals. Never have been. They were penalized for using a video camera on the sidelines. Polaroid still cameras were legal on the sidelines but not video cameras. Belichick's defense was that the rule states the video could not be used in the...

I wonder if agnostic people are coping better with the loss

something I think about when my team loses: my wife is from Italy and has lots of family back in the old country - she mentioned once how we wouldn't want to be there after Italy had lost the world cup one year, or maybe it was Inter losing to Juventus or Napoli losing to AC Milan because...

I wonder if agnostic people are coping better with the loss

Atheist, cancer survivor, Patriots fan here. Very sympathetic to your pain. Upsetting to hear that Pete Carroll woke up weeping at 4 am on Tuesday morning. I'm of course glad that the Pats won but they came so close to losing it doesn't feel that great. The loss in 2007 was easily the most...

    Patriots cancel Saturday walk through

I've seen other references on this site to the Patriots being an "older" team - maybe it's some kind of inside joke that I'm not getting but the Patriots' average age is only 26.0, slightly lower than the average age of the Seahawks at 26.1. Perhaps it's just the perception that they have been...

    The Last Days of Football

Really interesting essay about the state of the NFL that I think raises a lot of good points. It's written by a Patriots fan and echoes a lot of my thoughts, but I'm posting it here because I know Seahawks fans are totally focussed on Football right now as everyone in New England is, and I...

    Patriots have never.....

I guess I don't really understand how sports betting works but didn't they cover the spread when they beat the Rams?

Even Pats announcers are huge arrogant homers

I am a fan and not a football scout. My knowledge of the Seahawks is based on a pretty small sample. I am of course joking about invoking the Lord as a form of cheating. But what I really wanted to comment on is this: Patriots fans pretty much universally hate Roger Goodell because of his...

Even Pats announcers are huge arrogant homers

I only pay attention to the Red Sox, Patriots, Celtics, Bruins when they are doing well. There's just so much time in one's life that you can devote to watching sports, so I try to be selective. I'm actually looking forward to the end of the Belichick/Brady era so I can get my weekends back...

Even Pats announcers are huge arrogant homers

Yes, I am a Pats fan, which is why I was answering the question. I really haven't seen Russell Wilson play all that much - but I did watch that game in 2012 and the recent game against Green Bay. I didn't see the superbowl last year - I think I was late to turn it on and then it was a...

Even Pats announcers are huge arrogant homers

To be honest it reminds me of exactly what I was thinking watching Seattle play Green Bay in the NFCCG - that I was glad to see Russell Wilson exposed as a fraud. What I didn't realize was that Wilson has God on his side. There should be a rule against invoking the Lord to help teams win games.

    FAO Patriots fans

I had to google "FAO" to make sense of this post. "For Attention Of" - not an acronym I had seen before but according to the web, standard internet terminology. :-) The thing you have to understand about Patriots fans is that after watching our team go 18-0 and then lose in the Superbowl...

Help, Pats Fans: Perception of Pete in New England

Sorry to add my two cents to an aging thread but it took a day or two get registered on this site. I've been a Patriots fan since the sixties. I have no idea why anyone in NE would "hate" Pete Carroll. I did not realize until this week that Pete is 63, actually older than Belichick, who is...

Do the Pats receivers scare you?

Reading this thread last night I suddenly remembered that Seattle is the team that traded a first-round draft pick for Deion Branch, of all people. So I think the only thing you have to be afraid of is that your team will trade for one of the Patriots' receivers in the off-season. :-) The...
