Knowing that there were few seasons as a starter and a couple of games before

Today, where do you place Geno Smith on the list of best Quarterbacks of all time in Seatte?
For everything he played and represented for the franchise

Had Moon played a full career with us he might be at the one or two spot. Geno’s story was a good one last season but I believe that was his ceiling.

My list is certainly open for debate but it’s pretty solid to how I feel.

Agree everyone else was stop gap or utter failure, Kitna was the only one I think that could be added to that list.

Someone could make an argument just based on Seahawks performance/team success that Smith is comparable to Moon. But he'd need 3+ more good seasons to get into that Zorn area and another 5+ to get into Wilson/Hasselbeck/Krieg territory.

Smith worked out his first year a lot better his first year starting than his previous situation would have us assume. His second year was good, and still better than what you'd assume you'd get from that kind of castoff. If he played well for another few seasons, we talk about Zorn ranking I guess.

How is Zorn ahead of anyone? He maybe had one good season and a HOF
WR bailing him out on some horrible throws.
I don't care if he was the first starter - It doesn't mean he was a good QB.
They made a big mistake by not taking a young Moon who was there in the
Draft/UDFA instead you go with a Jim Zorn?

Russ (104-53-1, 17GAVG: 31td/9int/3987yds)
Hass (69-62, 17GAVG: 21td/16int/3626yds)
Geno (18-17, 17GAVG: 26td/10int/4065yds)
Krieg (70-49, 17GAVG: 26td/20int/3471yds)
Moon (11-13, 17GAVG: 24td/16int/3611yds)
Zorn (40-60, 17GAVG: 17td/20int/3097yds)
Kitna
Jackson (RIP)
Wallace
Mirer

Geno, Krieg & Moon are all pretty close for me.

If I'm ranking purely on impact on the franchise as a whole, not by QB output.

Russ
Hass
Krieg
Zorn
Geno

Primarily because Geno took a team that had traded away its franchise QB and led them to the playoffs.

Dave Krieg has to be #3. Totally different era. Defenses would knock your teeth out back then, now a days the league has changed the rules to allow offenses to point up monster stats and points.

Looking at the qb history we actually have had some fairly long tenured guys. I was trying to think how Geno would even be in top 5 consideration. Just haven't had a ton of qb's in this organization.

Why is that a better question? This is basically an all time Seahawks QB list. We get it. You’re not a Geno fan. Again, this is a thread about ranking Seahawks QBs, not other teams backups.

Comparing Geno to say Krieg who statistically isn't that good, but QB for a long time, played in a different era, and led a few highlight years -- is impossible. Like, easy to argue franchise impact for Krieg, but as far as the QB position, Krieg didn't have many outstanding statistical years where he threw for far more TDs than INTs. His highest TD year was 32, but he threw 24 INT that year too. His best ratio was an 18:8.

Krieg also was 3-6 in the playoffs with 11:9 ratio.

You had Dan Marino at the time throwing 48 TDs and 5000 yards.

Geno is most certainly better than all QB's who didn't lead our team more than 5 years. Moon included.

Like statistical rankings that require a minimum number of attempts or snaps, this list needs to have some sort of qualifications before we can rank any player. IMO any QB that has not been a starter for at least 5 years shouldn't be ranked.

It's pretty evident you have some huge bias against Krieg when you try to tear him down by using such an obvious exception to the rule. Marino never reached those numbers again, and nobody else came close to having a season like that during Krieg's prime. The season he did that, the second-most TDs thrown was Krieg with 32. Next was Joe Montana and Neil Lomax was 28, and nobody else had more than 25. There were just three QBs who hit the 4000 yard mark. The very next season, Marino dropped to 30 TDs and 4137 yards (only 4000 yard passer that year), both of which led the league. Kreig's 27 TDs tied for second. Then in '86, Ken O'Brien's 25 TDs was second in the league. It was clearly a different era.

We could use your same logic to argue that every QB in the past two decades other than Tom Brady, who was out there going to ten Super Bowls, was complete trash. Should we start judging Geno's worth by what Mahomes is doing in this era? I'm not claiming Krieg was some all-time great, but let's be a little more intellectually honest about it.

Seattle has had 24 different QB's start a game. If we go by win percentage as starter alone. The great Glenn Foley is number 1, followed by Trent Dilfer at number 2. Geno is down at number 8 just below Hass. Obviously going by stats alone will not work

You could make a solid argument that Geno is top 4, you could make a solid argument that he is as low as 7th as well.

For me the top 3 is easy.
1) Wilson
2) Hass
3) Krieg

the rest of my top 10 would go as follows
4) Zorn
5) Smith
6) Kitna
7) Moon
8) Mirer
9) T-Jack
10) Seneca Wallace
