The more bullpen arms we use up today the more it hurts us tomorrow. You don't throw Brash more than 1 inning there because then you can't use him tomorrow

It was 4-1. The game was hardly over at that point. Brash was sharp and only at 15 pitches. He was also a starter only a few months ago so can probably go longer than your typical reliever. Now we've used 3 relievers so far when we very well could still be at just 1.

I'll never understand not starting Gilbert today. Back matchup for Ray while Logan has been fairly consistent and much better then RR all year. All the momentum has now shifted to the BJ's.

If they need Brash, Sewald, or any other releiver tomorrow then you run them out there. Win or go home

Starting Ray felt like an ego move. Mariners just had to start the former cy young and big off-season acquisition. They should have played the guy that gave them the best chance to win, Gilbert.

Bases loaded no outs, let’s see what we can do. At worst, we can make the Jays use some of their pen.

Brash has been in the BP most of the season. At this point I don't think you use him any different than a regular BP guy as far as pitch counts. I like them saving him to be able to use tomorrow personally. Not saying the game was over at all, but I also don't want to blow any guy out this game and not be able to use them tomorrow.

I know I sound like a broken record but going with Ray was just dumb. Take away the fact Toronto is right hand heavy, Gilbert was the much better pitcher this year.

Then going to Sewald this early was just dumb. It does seem like Sewald is fading fast.

The good news is Toronto’s pen will be taxed if there is a game tomorrow.

I mean, stay with Brash there and you've used 1 guy. Instead, they pulled him and had to use 3 guys (and gave up a bunch of runs). ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I think Servais genuinely believes that Ray is his best starting pitcher after Castillo.

They went to Sewald. I don't think anyone expected that to happen... If I could trade the runs for losing Brash for tomorrow I would with hindsight. But without knowing that Sewald was going to crap the bed in the moment I think they made the right move. They're lined up currently to have every BP pitcher available tomorrow which is a big advantage.
