Why are we so obsessed over our next OC?

The first 3 coordinators mattered less because we didnt have a qb who ran the plays as they were designed. The offense rose and sank with Russ.

Now, the scheme DOES matter because the 11 guys on offense actually run the plays. Our QB isnt an improv master, and so the quality of play and success of our offense directly correlates to the ability of our OC.

It matters for us now the same way it matters for GB, Buf, KC, Was, LA, Cincy, Minnesota, Denver, Detroit etc. Plays that make sense matter. A strategy that is effective matters. And the more holes you have on your team, the more critical the OC is.

I will say this: I was pretty optimistic about the last several OC hires at the time, but none of them worked out. And nobody will if the O line isn't fixed once and for all. But the man in charge of assembling it is still here. So, proceed with caution. ⚠️

The OC will need to fix the O line that's why Fraley made so much sense. I feel bad for whoever it is. It's a big task. Get guys you can run behind.

Here and there
At this point, I say we blow up the Oline and let the HC and new OC rebuild it from scratch..but then again that why I'm not a coach in the NFL.

we need a running count on how many linemen they bring in in FA and draft. I bet the over is 12.

Washingtin went from 27th to top 10 on their o line in ine year with arguably less talent than we have. Check that. For certain they had less talent.

They plugged their interior with journeyman / bargain guys.

The biggest difference from 23 to 24 up front and in blocking success was Klingsbury's playcalling, a more balanced attack (Bienemy only wanted to pass - sound familiar?) And a new O line coach. Washington didnt go out and draft / sign 5 new studs. They brought in solid, smart players who knew their scheme, coached them up, and put them in a scheme that helped, not hurt them.
A good OC will fix 60% of our issues.

I think Daniels plays a big part in that too.

Absolutely. But qbs arent superheros that can make everything miraculously work if your line is garbage, your OC cant call a good gameand you have no running game.

Washington put a solid group around their rookie gave him great coaching, and he is maximizing everything they have given him and some.

OC has a scheme that utilizes his players best assets, O line needs to play in something that exploits their strengths, step one, step two be flexible enough to scheme against teams weaknesses and players, step 3 be able to adjust the game plan in process if needed.

Saying that who have we had here that has done that in the last 15 years ?

Been kind of our problem, when you become dominant and strong in all aspects you then can dictate what you want to do, last time that happened Holmgren was the Coach.

I'm not sold on our DC yet.

We might need a good OC if the DC craps the bed like in that Packers game.

Because having a new HC over the past whatever how many OCs Seattle has has under Carroll, this is a big deal.

Don’t know if Mac is waiting for this conference championship weekend to end before making his decision but time is ticking.

We hired the wrong head coach last season. Makes sense people would be sensitive to going through that again, even if it's a coordinator hire.
