Reports out if camp is that Woolen is healthy, and looks better than he did as a rookie. If true or CB will be a strength

The team is in a solid position at CB and has significant talent here, suspect at CB least one of these players could be trade pieces if there is need at other positional groups. Witherspoon and Woolen will be starters After them there will be a truly vicious battle for the remaining spots. Jackson, Tre Brown and the two rookies are likely keepers but the the team may need to risk some predation at cutdown time. Think Artie Burns is likely gone, yet we don’t really know what the staff is thinking yet.

Do suspect there might a few surprises. I found the Blair addition curious and suspect that there could be bigger surprises at S.

The tackling was so bad on the back end last year. I hope that's gotten fixed. My guess would be Riq and Brown. Spoon in nickel coverage

I’ve heard MM talk about Riq quite a bit. Coach is pretty straight forward…not a lot of flash but I’ve heard him mention Woolen in a real positive manner.

I get the feeling that Spoon may be roaming (quasi- FS) a bit as well.

Any word on the two Auburn rooks?

From I have read, I am assuming Witherspoon, Woolen, and Tre Brown are in. The last or last two would be very competitive, especially we drafted two CBs this year.

Who knows how anyone will adapt. I just would like to see some of these guys make a tackle. You know break a guy down in open space, and take them down.

I think they look incredibly deep. Spoon, Riq, Brown, MJ, Pritchett, and James. I have Bryant as a safety, and I think Artie Brown's age is going to work against him. But he might stick on the practice squad again.

I think Jackson is underrated in the fanbase. He's a good fourth cornerback that isn't afraid of contact. He's exactly the sort of player that will take to what (it seems) Mcdonald wants to accomplish.

And keep an eye on Lance Boykin. There's something kind of Byron Maxwellish about him.

We have a abundance at CB, my thoughts are keep it, with aggressive style play you need to be deep.

I was calling for Quinyon Mitchell when our first pick was up. That would have been straight unfair to the rest of the league.

You could probably count how many better CB tandems there are than Witherspoon and Woolen on one hand though. Depth looks good too. Secondary should be a strength, which may be needed since the line is pretty average and our LBs might be the worst in the NFL.

Bryant could be on the bubble. The safeties will an interesting group to watch this pre-season.

My choice of starters are Riq, Witherspoon, and Brown. I think, barring injury, they will be very strong. Last year I rated out DBs as the strongest part of our team, other than kickers. But we have got some important players back from injury and made addition to our D-line that I feel like our defense overall is going to be significantly improved, especially considering the scheme change and coaching additions.
By all accounts Riq has been pretty much lights out so far this year, Witherspoon is Witherspoon, and Brown has been showing up bigtime. I feel very good about our cornerbacks and the depth we have at the position.

Our secondary will have guys on the PS that could start for other teams initially, that is the problem, how do we stash depth there

I agree Bryant could end up the odd man out. He is in the safety room now with a number of guys ahead of him for PT. Artie has been used often in the slot for Spoon relief all TC so far and has shown very well. Coach Mac has singled his play out in that regard as being very impressive.
See ya later Toby. It was fun while it lasted.

This is a good situation for the team and the secondary could just be real fun to watch if the safety play corresponds with the CB play.

It's true. I like Bryant, I'm crossing my fingers for him. But you're right.
