I was just 7 when I first heard that there was a new team and it wasn’t that far away from me (relatively). I was 8 when they played their first game. Have been a fan the whole time. I will say that in the 90s my fandom was able to actually flourish more with the internet. When all you have is local tv and newspaper and magazines it was harder to be a “long distance fan”. Once I started using the internet it led me to this place which has been my main Seahawks fix ever since.
I understand this perspective really well. We moved away from the Seattle area in 1982 to the East Coast and it was difficult to get any kind of information on the Hawks. My parents bought me a subscription to the “Seahawks newspaper“ for Christmas one year. It was supposed to be a monthly publication if I remember correctly, but I think I only got one or two out of the 12 I was supposed to. Evidently, it just wasn’t run very well and the money wasn’t enough to sustain it.

As another double-nickel recent AARP eligible greybeard, I’ve been a fan since day one, but I’m not sure I would call myself a diehard from day one. I was a Houston Oilers fan before that, back in the day of Earl and Dan Pastorini. So year one was feeling them out, year two they were both my number one teams, and then something about Zorn and Largent just catapulted them to my favorite team by the end of year 2. They were also a really fun team to watch even though they didn’t win many games.

I had to click on the first one and the last one because I was so mad at them after last game. I said that's it for me.
20 minutes later I was back to rooting as a 12.
I love this team.

Mid 80s for me. Where I grew up up (small town, Saskatchewan Canada) we didn't get US channels then, and the Cdn networks would only show NFL after CFL season ended in late Nov. My first years as a NFL fan I would only see the playoff contenders at the time. A friend of mine's dad told me his favorite NFL QB was Jim Zorn. Got me reading and learning about Zorn and Largent and got pretty intrigued by them in 82
I was pretty excited when they made the playoffs in 83 and I would get to see them on TV finally. I was hooked after that wild card game.

I totally get that. Before the Seahawks were born, my first love was the Minnesota Vikings. The depth of my affection back then extended to the color of their uniforms (purple was always my favorite color) and their super cool white Nike-looking logo on their helmets. My parents bought me a pretty bad ass Ahmad Rashad jersey I was quite proud of and wore often.

And then, one fateful day I learned my hometown had its very own team. When I saw the incredible logo and colors that was it. I would never look back and have not since that day.

Day 1 for sure. Saw my first live game in 79, pre season vs the Cowboys. Will never forget walking into the kingdom that day.

Kinda the same for me Aros...I grew up rooting for the Vikings. Mostly cuz my dad did. He followed a fella by the name of Joe Kapp, who was the QB for the B.C. Lions of the CFL, then signed with the Vikings.
I didn't start really cheering for the Seahawks until around '78. What won me over was those damn fake field goals with Herrera. The"Hawks used some crazy plays back then....loved it all. They weren't world-beaters by any means, BUT...they were exciting.

Don't know why but the poll shows that I selected "From the Early 2000's" when I actually clicked the 80's.
It's been a very interesting ride. Up, down, good, bad, great, frustrating, and just about any other emotion you can think of.

My "Day 1" was September 7th, 1986. I was 10 years old and we smoked the Stealers 30-0. I'm 48 years old now and it's been one hell of a ride. The 1990's were brutal since I lived in Florida at the time and everyone on the east coast felt entitled to tell me how much the Seahawks sucked anytime I was at a sports bar. But that crucible only hardened my support of this franchise which made SB48 that much sweeter. My support of professional sports in general has changed a lot in the last 10 years, but I still want to see Seattle be successful and will cheer them on most Sundays.

Since the 80s. I've lived all over and never wavered. But I was too young to be with them from inception (I was five and more of a baseball fan). It took a while for me to "get" football. But never going to give up my love for the Seahawks!

I liked playing Madden as a young tike and my family is all from Seattle and Seahawks fans but I was never a true football fan until I was a freshman in highschool. That was the 2005 season so very intriguing. After the 2006 season ended in heartbreak I started training to play high school football and my love for the game was forever cemented.

65 here. I lived and worked on the North Slope from mid 70s till 98. About 1980 I was a weather observer/airport manager on exploratory oil wells on the 'Slope.
My favorite site bring Ivotuk of course.
Worst: Koluktak (even the name sounds terrible).
The only tv we had was from a satellite dish, with AFN (Armed Forces Network). They broadcast 1 or 2 NFL games every Sunday.

About the time Dave Krieg became the starter was when I first got to watch my beloved Seahawks.

During the 78-79 range. Looked like we were going to compete when 80s rolled in. But got ugly until McCormick changed things and brought in Knox. Surprised I see some from the 90s. Those were dark times
