Dipoto mentioned the Mariners goal is to stay around .540 win pct in the past. Or something to that effect. Had they been doing just that, they would have a fairly comfortable lead over the rest of the teams in the division.

Mize plays for the Padres now.
Troy Melton will start tonight for Detroit.
Here is what Copilot had to say about him. Pretty good strike out per inning ratio!

Melton, a right-handed pitcher, is listed as the confirmed starter for the Tigers’ 9:40 PM ET matchup at T-Mobile Park Fantasy Team Advice+1. He enters the game with a 1.75 ERA and 60 strikeouts over six innings pitched MLB.

Refsnyder and Garver released. Can't say I'm sad. Johnny Pareda could be a far nicer option.

Sigh. Same ol Safeco Field M's.
Down 4-0. Once AGAIN, the OTHER team can hit & find ways to score in that park.

8 pitches to get the M's out 1-2-3 in the 5th
Donovan is back, not looking good.
Ward strikes out in his first AB. Very fitting.
M's have gone down in order 3 of 5 innings.
Looks like another game our "superior" starter is gonna be out-pitched by a no-name.

Kinda feel a little bad for Melton. If Detroit would've just left him in there he easily would've cruised to a complete game shutout. Those kinds of opportunities are very rare in major league baseball.

Well, the shiny new toys didn't shine so much in their first showing.

Melton is good, but is he that good? Our hitters get too aggressive. Too many one and two pitch at bats. Need to work the pitcher more, doesn't matter how good the pitcher is. Show some patience.

Dominguez seems to throw a very hittable ball.
