Assuming he doesn’t get another head coaching gig I wouldn’t hate to get some experience on our coaching staff. I think he was pretty effective as an OC. Thoughts?

No well-known play caller is going to come to Seattle to work with Geno Smith and this O line.
This is what I think of when I see someone bitch about Geno for the 100th time in a thread not about Geno:

Too bad. He's bitchable. If that's a word.

That's me, and many others when he holds the ball for a half an hour before taking a sack. Or.....throwing another pick.

He won’t be an OC. He will take a year off if not the bears HC before he goes back to OC
This.

He's not going to immediately settle for a demotion and there will be interest in him.

If we're aiming for a recently fired HC, I'm on the Doug Pederson train. He is much less likely to generate interest for HC spots than McCarthy.

I think he will beg for the opportunity to coach under a young defense guru who does not have an offense philosophy, and a savvy pro bowl QB that can make all the throws. With Geno, if his offense turned out to be so so, there is GeNO to blame. McCarthy didn't even have to do the blaming, plenty of dot net experts will do it for Mike.

Do you get tired of pretending people actually think like this about Geno?

You're like an obsessive ex-girlfriend.

No way. He will lobby to bring Eddie Lacey back.

Seriously though. The dude has that 'black cloud' of inevitable failure hanging over his head when it comes to high pressure situations.

I think he should go to the Browns, then they could sign Rodgers and Wee 3 as back up and we all get to watch a 1970's disaster movie being made.

I don't believe that at all. A good play caller would see a team that got 10 wins with a rookie HC despite Grubb's college offense that created more pressure for Geno and only made it tougher on the oline.

As for MacCarthy.... Eeww gross

Remember when Seattle beat the Vikings in the playoffs due to the kicker choking, then bringing him to the Seahawks, where he continued to choke?

Now remember in that NFCCG when McCarthy coached so conservatively, frittered away a chance for a complete blowout, and lost to the comeback Seahawks?

Hmm, I wonder what kind of success we would have bringing him in??
