Penix is a great contingency plan; however, the Falcons still ruined their rookie QB contract window by signing Cousins. So either way, their GM looks like a bit of numpty.
I fully agree I just think Penix is going to be so good that fans forget and move on. I'm biased of course but I think he has a chance to be special and then no one will care until the next time the GM screws up.

Washington's defense is still going to be trash even with Dan Quinn.

Atlanta should have probably waited to see whether Cousins is capable of actually moving before giving him that bag.

Chicago is probably not about to get their first 4,000 yard passer.

I've thought Burrow has been overrated for awhile, I think that might get fixed soon.

I wasn't sure about Stroud last year because his time-to-throw was pretty bad and he had a fairly easy schedule, but he might be legit.

New Orleans and David Carr aren't that bad. They might not be great, but they aren't terrible.

Carolina is terrible.

Brian Daboll is probably getting fired.

I think I'd like to visit this post again during Week 17 to see how much of these thoughts end up being good/bad...

With Russ though he was at least good in Seattle for a long time and went to 2 super bowls. Watson had the off field stuff, a big injury and they cut Baker Mayfield who has been pretty decent at his last 2 teams now and I don't think was that bad at the Browns.
Watson looked good at Houston, I quite liked him until the off field stuff came out

Baker had a poor deal at Browns with few weapons .... he has at Tampa & has linked well with Evans in particular & Godwin

The Pats performance is rather worrying, before yesterday I had them down as the 31st ranked team in the league (ahead of the Panthers) only seen the highlights but they looked pretty good against the Bengals, I'm thinking they might be a lot better than eveyone expected and we might have a hard time getting a W next week.
Joe's wrist is still damaged - maybe a career type issue. he cant/wont throw deep. His passing chart looked like Bo Nixes.

Braden Fiske got absolutely manhandled on that last drive in the Rams game. Those alligator arms. The tackles get to his chest before he can get to them and they drive him.

Baker took the Browns to the playoffs and gave them their first playoff win in decades. The next year he played through injury but wasn't as good, and as a reward they got rid of him. F*ck the browns.

I'm not pretending to think I know how to GM an NFL team but I can't believe the contract they gave Cousins. I watched a lot of their game against Pittsburgh and he looked like he didn't know what the heck was going on , made horrible decisions , no mobility.

The Falcons fans will be screaming for Penix before too long then they'll have a 180,000,000 dollar backup 😆

I'm so happy to be a Seahawk fan .

Deshaun Watson is getting ready to be dealing with a lot more than being a crappy QB.

The browns deserve what they get . I feel sorry for their fans .

I really do.

And then there was this news item on Deshaun Watson from the Athletic:

Let’s review the Deshaun Watson situation. His salary-cap number for the next two seasons is $72 million per season. If the Browns were to cut him after this season, it would be a $200 million dead-money cap hit, according to Over the Cap. Even if they stick with him until 2026, it’s still a $99 million dead-money cap hit to get rid of him. They are stuck with this. “This” is the fourth-worst passer rating in the league Sunday (51.1). His 3.8 yards per attempt was the third lowest in the league, and it was as bad as it looked. On Monday, the situation got even worse and more complicated as he was accused again of sexual battery and assault in a new lawsuit.

Watson's cap number per season is $72 million, and $200 million is the dead cap hit! Plus the Browns made themselves the hated around the league for signing him and guaranteeing all that money. Somehow, they managed to do even worse than the Broncos.

Just thinking about Stadium Financing, they could build it if they drafted a rookie QB with now public money.
