Is laid out with a good bit if detail in the latest Seattle Overload found here:

If you care at all about looking beyond the simple excuses of 'Geno makes dumb mistakes' and ' Grubb cant do anything eith this O-line', give it a listen.

They spend the first 49 minutes breaking down the defense and why they think the success we have found recently is entirely sustainable.

Starting around the 0:50:00 to 0:50:30 mark, they begin to get into the offense. There are no live film breakdowns, but the critique brings in a good bit of technical detail and references in detail the plays, formations and tendencies of the offense.

It is unbiased and provides really good insight.

The summary? Our offense is predictable, disjointed, and week over week is getting worse. And that criticism covers the pass game as well as the run game and describes how those failures schematically are negatively impacting the O line.

Theres a point at 1 hour and around 2 minutes where Geno's play is described in the offense as being essentially the only thing keeping it afloat and even ackowledges his pick against Arizona as being bad, but a product of a QB trying to do too much with an offense that gives too little on its own.

Matty talks about our pass tendencies from the gun and under center and highlights how despite running more and better was a point of emphasis during the bye we still rarely run PA from under center. Where league average is somewhere over 32 percent, we run it at 18%. Not great.

They also go on to talk about what they think Grubb's future is here, whether the offense can get any better this year, and point to obvious nonsensical play design that doesnt offer much hope.

You can choose to feel how you want about Geno, the O Line and Grubb. That's every fan's prerogative. But if you care to understand some of what is REALLY happening from technical xs and os perspective and how it leads to perception, give a listen.

Matty and Griff spend an inordinate amount of time covering the Hawks and i know that PC seemed to appreciate Matty on press days. Matty himself coaches football in the UK, inspired by the defenses Carroll brought to Seattle.

"In other words, your offense is bullsh*t."

Unfortunately sums it up. In the passing game, Grubb's creativity on the route tree is wasted because he completely neglects the upfront stuff.

He doesn't move the pocket, he leaves his struggling O-Linemen on islands in long developing plays from Shotgun.

In the run game, I thought he made progress two weeks ago but went backwards against AZ. You can't rely on traditional up the gut running when you know your O-Line can't make holes. So, where are the jet sweeps, designed QB runs, gives to the upback?

He has all these great ideas about how to beat the secondary through scheme but basically relies on his underperforming O-Line to just win on talent against the front seven.

I have been advocating to either fire Grubb or take the playing away from him since October. In this month, I repeatedly been told that we need to give Grubb time and it was Geno that messed things up.

The give Grubb time was based on Grubb is learning pro-ball, and players are still learning Grubb system. Needless to say I don't buy both.

Grubb may one day be a good NFL OC, but he is hurting the team at this point.

No, It's not all Geno's fault at all, the only problem I have with geno is the horrible int's other than that I love the guy and believe he's a real leader and this team follows him, I mean put Mahomes, Allen, Burrow behind this seahawks Oline and they to will struggle!! the simple fact everyone can agree on with this offense is the Oline needs to be #1 on the list in the offseason Cross, Lucus, Olo are safe the rest are definitely replaceable...

Grubb. I've been a wait and see guy with him all year and I gotta admit it, it's getting harder & harder to back this guy, the play calling and decision making with him is still in question with me.. even though he has at least learned how to use JSN with success 🙌🏻..

I love Griff but all I’m going to say is othetnrraply smart film guys disagree with some of this and his views on Geno, Grubb, Carroll over the years etc. no one is gospel and if someone disagrees with Matty and Griff it doesn’t mean they’re wrong.

Just my opinion ..............

Quote from linked video >>> "the offensive line is not selling the run game at all". In my eyes that has been the case all season long. "They are so panicked about getting into their pass sets so quickly" it telegrams to the linebackers and defensive backs what is coming.

There are also a couple of deficiencies the coaching staff has mentioned elsewhere. The interior OL doesn't initiate movement quickly enough with the snap of the ball. Typically trailing the movement (IMO) dictated by the defensive. (Connor Williams was a temporary exception IMO) And second, they don't redirect consistently well. Struggling to remain square and losing angles. Perhaps quicker feet and movement would aid in overcoming and redirecting individual inertia.

In my eyes, what is featured this year is a pass oriented offense built behind a retrograde pass blocking line. A running game and explosive play action built off a formidable running game is, as of yet, under represented by this years offense. That may not change this year.

Who are the other smart film guys who disagree with this take on Grubb's Seahawks offense so far?

Per SI.com
https://www.si.com/nfl/seahawks/podcasts/how-can-seahawks-jump-start-scuffling-run-game

Despite making a more concerted effort to find balance on offense and take a load off of quarterback Geno Smith's shoulders orchestrating the NFL's most pass-heavy attack, Seattle still hasn't been able to get its ground game back on track, in part due to several lineup changes along the offensive line. Through 12 weeks, after being held to 65 rushing yards in a win over Arizona on Sunday, the team ranks 28th in rushing yards and yards per attempt.

Given the Seahawks' underwhelming rushing numbers, it'd be easy for coach Mike Macdonald to dwell on the lack of progress. But after diving into the film following Sunday's win over the Cardinals, he feels like the offense is close to a breakthrough with the run game, as consistency remains the biggest obstacle that has yet to be hurdled.

"You're looking through it from, 'Hey, how we're coming up with our plan, how we're implementing it, how we're practicing it, how it's coming to life on the field.' There's some good stuff out there," Macdonald said. "It's just not as much as we want it or as consistent as we want it, but there's some good stuff and our guys are working really hard at it. Our coaches are devising some really good plans in my opinion, that we're still going to try to improve on, but we're on the right track."
As I've been saying this is all about OLine play and we have two significant liabilities, Tomlinson and Bradford. The coaching staff has been tinkering but hasn't found the right combination.
