Texans fired OC Bobby Slowik, maybe we check him out again.
This is interesting on two fronts:

One, there is one more OC available for us to (maybe) consider. On this side, I've got mixed feelings. He led Stroud to one of the best rookie seasons ever, but their offense dropped off a LOT this year. Was it injuries? O-Line struggles? Or bad play calls? Not sure. (Stroud had one of the longest Times-to-Throw for a Pocket Passer last year and was really reliant on his O-Line giving him time. So, who was responsible for the lack of adjustment this year? Stroud or Slowik? Might go watch some Houston games to see what it looks like.)

Two, now there is one additional team (in addition to Tampa Bay just losing their OC to Jacksonville) who needs an OC. If we have a guy we are pretty set on, it might behoove us to start moving.

Nah, we ain't done interviewing young OC candidates. By the time we finished interviewing both Schneider and Macdonald will know more about how to coach an offense than anyone of the candidates.

What’s interesting is Stephon Diggs went from Buffalo to Texans and the Bills got better and the Texans got worse on offense…

Maybe it’s Bobby’s fault, maybe there’s more to the team’s frustration than just their now fired OC.

Without really watching the tape (yet), I think the OL getting bad and then injuries at WR are probably the biggest issues (though I've seen some of the chatter saying he was 'just like Grubb' or whatever in some critical statements, but I don't really think Grubb could have given Stroud as good of a season as he had last year).

Houston's O-Line went from a top-10 Time-to-Pressure ranking to bottom 10. Whereas Stroud looked good last year, this year he had no part of his game where he was more than 'mediocre' but his accuracy and ability to generate with his legs were both below average this year, so Stroud struggling is probably a big part of it as well.

That said, given what they did last year, there might be some personality issues at play as well which have nothing to do with on-field performance.

Fraley's wife tweeted out that they aren't going to Chicago & staying in Detroit. Seattle wasn't mentioned specifically though.
Yeah, but Seattle is definitely not Detroit, so probably not a good sign (well, for those who wanted Fraley).

Sounds like he was kind of the consensus favorite to be our next OC but oh well.
That only consensus that counts is the opinions from Macdonald, our young genius, and Schneider, our old fox. Opinions on .NET are nothing more than just opinions.

Damn. Fraley had become my first choice. But I'll admit that I had tunnel vision simply due to the O Line background.

He probably didn't impress Macdonald or Schneider, maybe both.
Sometimes it is just not a good fit. Maybe we didn’t like him or maybe he wasn’t excited about coming here due to offensive philosophy??? Who knows (besides MM & JS). There a lots of reasons why someone might fit in. I am holding faith that they will make the right decision. I feel like MM (and JS) have a better grasp on what the new team identity is and where they want it to go. That will help tremendously in the decision making process.Plus learning from he Grubb mistake will only help.
