I can say one thing in John's defense that I haven't seen anyone mention yet. Just like how awful the Patriots have been at building teams in the Tom Brady years. The league is literally built to have the good teams draft later to have bad teams become good. From 2015-2023 you had mediocre Seahawks teams always going 9-7 to 11-5 and getting bounced early and consistently drafting late every year. Schneider didn't have a chance at drafting high ever..... BUT he consistently traded all his top picks and his picks year after year after year since 2012 have been literally all fails, there are some good players sprinkled in but nearly all bad. I also don't fault the Adams trade when it happened. And also in John's defense we don't know how much influence Pete had on his picks.

I hear you. Like where tf is their money?

They're not paying high-end QB money, they didn't extend Brooks or Lewis, and Cross, K9, JSN, Mafe, Hall, Riq and Spoon are all on rookie deals. Where'd the money go, John?
Only money I can see JS is saving for is to extend DK….

But if I’m DK, I am also contemplating being an unrestricted free agent and seeing how the market is.

If you think JS is looking to back up the brinks truck for DK, what makes you think he wouldn't slap the franchise tag on him if need be?

Jamal Adams, Quandre Diggs - horrible contracts. Why even pay safeties that much in the first place? And after a major season ending injury? Just horrible roster management and bad ROI here.

Jerome Baker - Not even on the team.

Dodson - Not even on the team.

Nwosu - Oft injuried and not even on the field.

Jenkins - Not that good

Lockett - Past his prime and not living up to contract

Metcalf - Above average player but not at Julio Jones or Megatron level

Dre Jones - Massively underperforming his contract

Leo Williams - About meeting his contract, but is not the future

Noah Fant - Unperforming his contract, another mid-level type of player

Witherspoon - I mean he's not bad, but not living up to 5th overall pick status currently

This roster / roster management is mid with a poor ROI.

Florida and loving GOP country!
Schneider is the GM of a team that hasn't made it to the conference championship in 10 years. Haven't had a top 15 defense (yards allowed) since 2017.

At some point that Super Bowl victory is a thing of the past. JS hasn't made big moves, he hasn't gone for gusto, he's allowed this team to flounder. He's drafted 6 cumulative PB seasons since 2016. Niners have done 18, Cardinals 10, Rams 7
Niners we also straight up trash from 2016-2018. Us on the other hand, were not. I'm not defending JS at all, especially with how our o-line has been for years, but the Niners had some bad seasons to get some high picks to help get those 18 PBs.

Yes they had years of high round draft picks, but overall, their roster management and player evaluation is far superior. They actually draft players that fit their system and have a cohesive philosophy to build off of.

I've been defending Schneider a lot lately, but he absolutely does deserve criticism for this, even without the benefit of hindsight. Adams was an exciting player for the Jets, and I see why the team coveted him, but the cost was absolutely insane. He pretty much had to be our Troy Polamalu to work out. He could have been very good, and it still wouldn't have been worth the compensation. Not only was he not that, but he was complete ass from the moment he stepped onto the field (yeah, yeah, you guys can say "nine sacks" until you're blue in the face; there's a reason you don't see that from DBs, and it isn't because there aren't any others who are capable). He was a malcontent who wanted out of New York, and played a non-premium position... I've asked this before and I'll ask it again: who the hell were we bidding against? I hope someone with the Jets comes out someday and tells that story.

I thought the Percy Harvin trade made sense at the time, I thought the Jimmy Graham trade made sense at the time. Giving up THAT much for Jamal Adams never made sense.

Thin excuse for firing a guy who built one of the NFL's all-time finest rosters and even after that, year in and year out, had us amongst the league's best in wins.

You guys just never watch other NFL teams. The Patriots had a nine-year drought between Super Bowls because drafting is so random. Mike Tomlin is looking really good right now after a long suck. Giants fans wanted Coughlin gone before 2012.

As far as I'm concerned, win the big dance and you're entitled to your position until you want to retire. Building a Super Bowl roster doesn't mean nothing, no matter how frustrated people get during a drought.

The Patriots were still going to conference championship games though and Mike Tomlin has never had a losing season, but he's the AFC's Pete Carroll,,,,does fine in the regular season, but never good enough to be serious contenders.

You can't rest on laurels from a decade ago and get a free pass forever. That's just insane.

Pete was never good enough to be a serious contender?

Let me check my notes.....

I'm so 50/50 with JS that I don't know what to think. He has an eye for QB talent and I kind of want him around for when we draft one, BUT as everybody knows, he had a string of terrible drafts for years, doesn't do well in the FA market and puts us in cap hell, and he gives draft picks away like he doesn't even care.

That being said, I wish he would have gotten the can with Pete. I wanted a clean slate, but i'll see what he can do with the new staff and hope he changes my opinion of him.

If the purpose of this thread was to convince people like me that John needs more time, it didn't work. After reading through some of these posts, I think I want him gone more than ever. 😂

I get the feeling that John can't wait to move on from Geno. I don't know who you're replacing him with, but if our cap situation is as dire as some suggest, there's no way I'm paying that guy big bucks.
