I still think those moonballs are ripe for the picking..but it's working. He doesn't have much else. Middle of the field is a no and his legs are gone. As long as the run game stays strong he will do ok.

Meh he’s thrown multiple big throws in crucial moments already in 3 games. He's absolutely had to do some things to win this year.

I do wonder how good the Steelers actually are and it will be interesting to see how they do against Baltimore, Cincinnati etc. I’m not convinced they’re a good team either but it’s kind of fun watching Russ and Tomlin doing well as I like both.
Sure. Russ has made some big throws, but the Steelers are NOT asking him to do much else. He is averaging 28 attempts per game, and completing under 60% of his passes. He's the epitome of a game manager, who hasn't had to play from behind or carry the offense. He grades out similar to Sam Darnold early in the season—where it feels like it is only a matter of time before the wheels fall off.

It's cool to see Russ balling out, but I don't find the Steelers particularly fun to watch. They are a run dominant offense without a dynamic rusher. A bit like the 2018 Seahawks.

I'm waiting for the inevitable post of.....what the heck, I'll just say it...

Are y'all John63?

Corinthians 11?
Lol you should know better, John only goes where Russ goes. If Russ isn't here, neither is John.

Edit: Just browsed the Broncos forums to see when the last Deandc post was, and apparently he hasn't posted since January 7th of this year.

A heavy heavy dose of humility was the only thing that could salvage Wilson’s career

He was to full of himself to succeed in the later years with the Hawks or Broncos

Right now, Pissburgh is a 3-point dog at home against the Ravens next week.

My prediction... Russ is sacked 4 times (twice by TJ Watt), he throws for 2 INTs and 0 TDs, and Pissburgh loses by more than 13 points.
TJ Watt is his teammate. I don't see how that prediction of yours would be coming true.

I'm happy for Russ.

I do think his ego got inflated while in Seattle, to be honest he really did put the team on his back between 2016-2021, so he got holier than thou. His tragic fall in Denver and being signed as a back up to Fields in Pittsburgh for sure humbled him and now he's playing like he's 28 again.

In a lofty place tanglin' with Satan over history.
All I ever want out of any athlete is for them to ball out at what they're good at. Russ will never be Payton or Brees, and Stephen Curry will never be LeBron. So what? 3 TDs is 3 TDs, with 1 of them being the classic "Hand delivered from God" GAME WINNING beautiful moonball. Go Russ! 💪🏿

Also, what I DON'T want to hear is MFers like Brock Huard, who couldn't "cool" his way out of a wet paper bag with a chainsaw, talkin' about someone being "corny". Shut up. Russ is 10x the QB you could ever be.

I don’t agree that because the volume is low they’re not asking him to do much. He has carried the offense at times if you’ve watched him play. Multiple times already he’s single handledly got them scores at key times.

This is where the grades don’t always tell the whole story. It’s like the Baker Mayfield score you mentioned the other day. His overall score was average or bad but watching the game he came up huge at key times and it fired up the whole team. You can’t put a “grade” on that. Russ did the same thing last week. Three touchdowns, a couple of huge first downs with nothing there etc grades don’t tell that story.

He’s played much better last year and this year so far than people want to admit regardless of EPA or any other advanced metric. Tomlin went to him for a reason and the offense is more dynamic than it was under fields when watching them.

If he has nothing else how is he so good in the red zone every year? Hes better than Geno in the red zone. Why is that?

I watched the game with a few friends at the bar. He did play from behind in that game and I did see him throwing the ball in the middle of the field. I also told my friends he was going to drop a dart eventually and he did. He wasn't pretty out there, but I wasn't watching a game manager either. He's playing well, but it's more than likely going to come crashing down next weekend as they play their first division opponent in Baltimore.

Happy Wilson is able to salvage his career so far. I get the Steelers get him right now for peanuts but how would it work next year? Does he have to sign a new deal?

And if they do lose, it will more than likely be because they are playing a much better team. He did what he did in his prime, nails in the clutch.
Sure, he's not what he once was, but he still has that killer instinct with the game on the line. You can't teach that stuff.

He hasn't come back in the past few weeks to gloat? He did that here last year for a week based on less. Hope he's ok.

When I say 'playing from behind,' what I mean is trailing and in obvious passing situations, where you can't lean on your running game. Thus far, Russ hasn't had to do that. In Russell's 3 games, the most the Steelers have trailed is 10 points (for a whopping 4 minutes).

As for throwing the ball over the middle, he had four attempts, his longest completion was 5 yards. The game manager distinction is hard for people to conceptualize because Russ is not a small armed overachiever and many people can't look past TDs/INT. But the other numbers don't lie. He's a mostly horizontal QB with below average down-to-down efficiency and upside down the field. He needs a strong running game to offset his weaknesses; otherwise, the offense becomes to volatile to win games consistently.

He wins. And when the game is on the line, he's nails. How it looks doesn't really matter at this point. Like someone else mentioned, the Steelers are a boring team to watch. But they get it done. Now I need to go puke.
Also, most QB's need a strong running game.

Well he had a 26-8 touchdown/int mark last year, he wasn’t nearly as bad as you think he was. I’d kill for our guy do have that split this year He’s also one of the highest rated red zone QBs in the league last year and this year which is an area he can’t throw his moon balls. Now he’s not what he was in Seattle but he’s also a little better than you guys want to admit too.
Give me till the end of season before I get back to this - Thanks
