I had already released my angst over Russell this year. With his latest outing, beating the hot Commanders in their house throwing 3 TDs, he looks like Seattle Russ again.

Tonight I saw a clip of his post game presser and I was surprised to hear him not only talk about the Steelers and their team but he made mention of his time in Seattle and Pete Carroll.

Was NOT expecting that.

He earned some points today in my book. Not that that matters to anyone but me I get it, but still.

It's so frustrating. We could've skipped his entire downfall if he would've just embraced the type of player he truly is rather than going scorched earth to try to prove to the world that he was Peyton Manning.

He did so much damage to the reputations of those who were putting him in a position to succeed.

We could've done more great things together. I'm glad he seems to realize most of the truth now. Pete and John deserve a whole lot of private apologies from him.

I suggested on .net during last off season to sign Wilson and leverage his $1 mil a year cost as Denver is signing checks.

I said so based on we may not be Superbowl ready this year and not knowing what cap hit would be by trading Geno.

This suggestion was as unpopular as my other suggestion in 2021 to trade Wilson.

Love Russ and I'm not sure I've ever seen a better competitor on the field. I've talked about it previously but I have friends who worked at the facility and they rave about how good of a dude he was to teammates, staff literally everyone. Said he was the nicest and most genuine athlete they've ever been around so I KNOW I'm biased and its why I sometimes defend him. I still understand people being upset with how he left and he deserves criticism for that but I'll always root for him. He is playing great football on a team that is having a lot of success. Good for him.

I'll also add I don't think many know the full story of his departure and that some of the blame is not on him but it will probably never get out because that's the kind of guy he is. Now don't get this wrong, I'm not absolving all blame but the picture that gets repeated in here as a fact isn't entirely true either. Doesn't matter at this point.

He's kind of in the same situation now. He's cheap, got a very good D and a very good running game. He's still not needed to diagnose the D. Just hand it off and throw some moon balls! But he is playing for his spot in Canton now...

I think he makes it. I think we will all look back years from now at his time in Denver as the blip in the screen. First ballot? Not sure, but I think he makes it to Canton when all is said and done.

I didn't watch the game but based on the box score, the Commanders did a number of TJ Watt.

Watt recorded no solo or assisted tackles, no TFLs and no Sacks. But he did defend one pass and had two QB HITS. Pretty mediocre for a player of his stature.

I think he's a lock honestly. No one has never not got in with his numbers, he has a SB win and a second appearnce as well. He's in.

I said it a couple weeks ago in a different thread. When he made his first start for Pittsburgh. His play reminded me of when he was playing with the LOB.
Steelers are a real contender if he continues to play the way he has been.

With coach Tomlin, he does seem to be getting back to just doing what he's good at. And with the game on the line, we know what he's capable of.
Glad we moved on, but also hoping he succeeds, even in Crappsburgh.
When they were at 4-2 and they benched Fields, a lot of people didn't like it. Tomlin is just one hell of a coach. And honestly, that was pretty damn gutsy to make that change, imo.

With all due respect, I think a lot of you are jumping ahead of yourselves.
Where was all this during the last 3 years?
The season is only close to half over, He really isn't impressing me and he
hasn't changed besides not cooking or demanding to.
He's being the game manager he was always supposed to be.. Hand off and do
play action moonballs instead of trying to be a Peyton or a Drew.

I'm happy Russ is revitalizing his career, but the way his team torched the Seahawk's organization will never sit right with me.

As for the Steelers, we'll see how legit they are against the Ravens next week. Russ hasn't had to do much thus far. So it'll be interesting to see how he performs when playing against a team that can actually score points. From my vantage point, the Steelers are a paper tiger feasting on bad teams.

Well he had a 26-8 touchdown/int mark last year, he wasn’t nearly as bad as you think he was. I’d kill for our guy do have that split this year He’s also one of the highest rated red zone QBs in the league last year and this year which is an area he can’t throw his moon balls. Now he’s not what he was in Seattle but he’s also a little better than you guys want to admit too.

Meh he’s thrown multiple big throws in crucial moments already in 3 games. He's absolutely had to do some things to win this year.

I do wonder how good the Steelers actually are and it will be interesting to see how they do against Baltimore, Cincinnati etc. I’m not convinced they’re a good team either but it’s kind of fun watching Russ and Tomlin doing well as I like both.
