Good points raised here about maybe letting some of our injured defensive players take tomorrow off to be closer to 100% by Thursday in time for a massively important 49ers matchup. Thoughts?

“I’m not saying you’re kicking this one to the side and if you lose, no big deal. Certainly you want to win. But if there’s a guy and you’re going, ‘He’s 80 percent, but if we give him a few more days, he’d be close to 100,’ maybe I don’t play him in this game. Maybe I want him as close to 100 for the 49ers. And they should still be able to handle this Giants offense.”

I think it's best to go for the win with as strong side as possible than go understrength & lose then getting players back for 49ers & losing that

So let's win tomorrow & Thursday will take care of itself
Im thinking of the remember the titans quote

"LEFT SIDE"

"STRONG SIDE"

I say it in the preseason and I’ll say it now. Game experience is more important than just practices alone. I’m all for rotating in guys if we get a good lead but let the guys play the game and prepare for the best week that way.

I think it's a terrible idea. There is no reason to assume we should be able to handle the Giants' offense without everyone available. And the coaches can always limit their snaps and rotate them out if we control the game. Getting cute and sitting guys is an excellent way to wake up at 3-3 on Friday morning.

MM believes this is a team that can make noise in the playoffs. I'm not sure coaches that think this way don't go full send week-to-week. If the score gets out of hand, sure...that makes perfect sense. But to outright sit players at full strength seems unlikely (at least to me).

And if doing this causes us to lose both?

You take the points.

Im not claiming anyone in this thread is saying this, but I have seen it expressed elsewhere: it seems hypocritical to me to cry disrespect when people question our record due to strength of opponent because "a win is a win" and "there are no easy games in the NFL", but then suggest resting players that we looked like an FCS defense without less than a week ago because the Giants are bad. Desperate teams are scary at this time of year. We shouldn't take any win for granted.

Don't like it, especially against a conference opponent. Wins are precious.
This game isn't a guaranteed win. It happens every week.Hopefully MM has these dudes ready and focused .

I do however kind of see the idea of not playing a guy who isn't 100% and keeping him from getting hurt worse.

Dress the back ups...Giants are a week 1 pre season squad.
We definately need take the Giants seriously, an attitude like that costs games.

The bookies have us Seahawks are -6 against the Giants. So far this season teams that are favoured by 6 points or more have a 9-11 record against these "week 1 pre season squads".

What would you call the Patriots then, a team with 449 passing yards for the entire season so far? For comparison, that's only 13 more passing yards than Geno has over his past five quarters alone. We needed OT to beat them. Among the guys we were missing on Monday night, how many could we have missed against the Patriots and still have won?

I'm not arguing that the Giants are actually good, and I'm expecting a Seahawks win, but the Giants havn't exactly been getting outclassed all season either. Their week 1 loss to a currently 4-0 Vikings team looks a lot more forgivable than it did at the time. They have been outscored by just two points in their three games since, three games which were all decided by six points or fewer.

Browns fans week 3 before playing the Giants: “lets sit the starters”.
