Everyone was very excited including me to hire Macdonald as the new HC. I've stated this already that defense isn't our issue, it's the offense and Grubb. I've also stated that if we start seeing issues it's not gonna be the defense. Grubb's problem is that he's bringing that college mindset to the Pro level. Passing it 90 percent of the time. Can't do that here. We have ZERO balance on offense right now and that's effecting the performance of the defense. Look at our wins, we had balance for the most part. Grubb has to figure out how to have a balance attack or we will lose every single game including tonight.

Not to argue, but they were beaten by the Giants. The Giants dominated and pushed the Hawks around the entire game, on BOTH sides of the trenches. That score didn't show how bad the Hawks played and got dominated, imo.
If it wasn't for a lucky bounce in the end zone that ended up being a 100 plus yard TD for the Hawks, that's likely a borderline blowout.
I think a lot of people are sleeping on the Giants though. They aren't as bad as many thought.

We can't run the ball, we don't try to run the ball. We can't stop the run. Enemy QB will have 90% completion percentage. Everytime they get the ball they will go down and get points.

Is this a joke? The Giants, missing their best offensive player (by far) and their leading rusher, were able to do whatever they wanted on offense. Their much-maligned starting quarterback posted his best QB rating since New Year's Day of last year. Their 5th-round rookie RB, who had 12 carries for 29 yards on the season coming into the game, gashed us for 129 yards on 18 carries. Their defense dominated our offensive line, tallying seven sacks, and blowing up a key fourth-down play in our own territory late. They held possession for more than 37 minutes and consistently looked better coached.

There was no doubt who the better team on the field was. It was the one who travelled 2400 miles for the game.

Nope.

I had originally penciled this in as a loss, then changed it to a win, and after last Sunday, I'm putting it back in the loss column.

I'm still down for a 9-8 regular season, wild card berth. But I'm naturally pessimistic, would much rather be pleasantly surprised than supremely disappointed.

It's still too early in the season for the contenders and pretenders to shake out, especially in the NFC. I don't see anyone in the conference that looks like a sure thing for the playoffs, let alone the SB. Are the Vikings for real? And what about the Commanders? Who thought that they'd be 4-1. I'm not discounting the possibility of the Hawks being one of those contenders.

Too many injuries and 3rd game in 11 days = terrible combination of circumstances to overcome.

Macdonald outranks Grubb. If he doesnt recognize when the offense is struggling for balance and step in, then he's no less complicit in the problem. Having a defensive background doesn't mean Mac is only responsible for 50% of the gameplan. He runs the show.

Can we at least wait until enough games have passed for the coaching dynamic to be better understood before automatically scapegoating coordinators? That was annoying enough when they were the subordinates of established coaches. I remember this as a consistent thing going all the way back to Steve Sidwell.

If I remember correctly, he did make the comment when asked that they HAVE to run the ball more. In fact I think he's said it a couple of times. I am with the people that say , give him some leeway. He's brand new to this and sinus everyone else. Who knows what's being called , when , why etc..

Damn I hope they win tonight.
