Understood, but how much longer do you think Geno can contain those physical attributes before father time takes over? I'm guessing 2 to 3 more years. Might be longer.

The cool thing about Geno's modern game is that most of it relies very little on athleticism. Brady-style pocket navigation rather than trying to out-sprint an outside linebacker after rolling out of the back of the pocket.

He's also throwing it all over the yard. Not relying explicitly on the deep shot.

That type of game is sustainable. Russell's wasn't.

Yeah, I think he did just fine playing the way he did. His record, SB Appearances, playoff wins and stats spoke for themselves. Not EVERYTHING has to be a comparison between the two. Russ was a great QB until he wasn't. He got sent packing. It worked out great.

Geno is a rapidly improving QB. Both can actually exist right?

Personally, I'm not saying he didn't play fine. I'm just pointing out that Russell's playstyle was particularly prone to decline from normal age-related loss of athleticism, whereas Geno's game is only minimally reliant on raw athleticism.

I have never ever been a Geno Hater. Thought he was the best option with the realistic options we had. His team friendly contract has a huge factor to his value to the team

After saying all that, we need more then two games to evaluate Geno with this new system.

I still feel Geno’s success will be directly tied to improvement of our interior of the OL. If the line doesn’t get better this could all go south very quickly

Smith is a good player, but let's not forget the new HC & GM combination tried to move up in the 2024 Draft to secure Penix. They were also willing to listen for trade offers for Smith.
Can’t blame them for trying to get Pennix

It's worth noting that two local reporters denied the rumor. Seattle may have liked Penix, but they never seriously considered trading up for him.
Penix is the only QB that I was interested in. I would have been overjoyed if he came to Seattle. To do the same thing that he is doing right now. Sitting in the QB room and digesting lessons from a pro bowl quarterback. Having said that, this was all before Sam Howell and Byron Murphy arrived. I am more than satisfied with that as an alternative.

Exactly. So, do you need to talk down to anyone who doesn't think Geno is God? Just sayin.

Side note: Damn Jersey, you came in here with a bang.

I better go get my popcorn 🍿
I'm still a little lower on Geno than many in here but I'm glad he's playing well and I hope and think he can keep it going. I want first half of 2022 Geno.

I'm sure Grubb and John were interested in Penix and liked him, but they also had a whole bunch of holes to fill and Geno on the hook if needed. New Coach and team to build, I think Mac goes back to old school building from the trenches, QB is kinda of the last new piece you add. We now have Howell in the wings so there will be no need to reach, good position to be in if you look at the Rookes over the last couple years that are not named Stroud.

Thought that was Glennon, but it may have been a Giraffe of different colored spots.

9 NFC teams had to have a worse record than the Niners for them to make the playoffs.

9 NFC teams had to have a worse record than the Seahawks for them to make the playoffs.

in the Niners case, 15 teams had a worse record. In the Seahawks case, only 9 did.

I fail to see how the Lions beating Green Bay is any more responsible for the Seahawks making the playoffs than the Vikings, Giants, and Jets beating The Packers earlier in the season.
Not true Tampa entered the playoffs with 8 wins that year.

Like I've said before this is a what have you done for me lately league. Were 2 games into the season, soon to be 3. Geno played a very good last game. And one mediocre 1st game. Now I hope Geno does good, because if he does that usually means the Hawks will win, not guaranteed a win but most likely. Now with that said I just don't see Geno getting us to the promise land no matter how good his stats are. Boy do I hope I'm wrong! And I think the upper management agrees no matter how much good they say about him. If they resign him into the season then that means they fully believe in him. I just don't see it.

If we dont make it to the SB in thr next 3 years, it eont be because of Geno.

I tbink its pretty obvious watching Geno operate in tbis offense and analyzing whats going on in Chicago (listening to expert commentary from guys like M Schlereth on Waldron) that Grubb isnt 'improving' Geno as much as he is maximizing what the guy is capable of. There's a difference between :

1. scripting a tailored playbook to a qb with a range of deficiencies and as an OC,

2. Putting as much as your qb can handle on his plate and using his knowledge of the game and his talents to break open the potential of an offensive unit.

Scenario one is dialing things back
Scenario two is turning things up.

Grubb and Geno are turning things up.

Geno and this offense under Waldron was like being handcuffed to a golfcart rolling downhill. Geno's play this year is the best evidence there is to prove that the good that we've seem from him the last two years wasnt an aberration. Watching the way he plays, his accuracy, his decision making... those thing are as evident now as they were last year. Grubb is just calling games that make sense, keeping his foot on the gas, and growing into what Geno does well - and thats a lot. I havent seen a throw the dude cant make. Im sure Grubb is elated knowing that he has a guy that allows him to run probably everything he can think up.

It's never only because of 1 guy. But he happens to play the postion that guy's must be Elite at and can make up for other deficiencies on the team in order to take us to the next level.

Not necessarily a "must" but definitely almost one. Luckily, his level of play has been elite or near elite for a good while now.
