People who have been fans of the Seahawks know this already, but you new bandwagon folks need to understand that Petey boy was horrible his first 2 years in Seattle. Back to Back losing seasons. The 3rd year is when it started to come together for us Seahawks fans. We're gonna be fine, relax.

I think many of us, maybe even most of us expect this to be a transition year. With the hopes of steady improvement.

Agreed.

Ironically, the 3-0 start messed us up as fans as it instantly set our expectations unrealistically high. Reminds how the bedroom temperature goes after you get married and she doesn’t need to “do those things” anymore.

Well, the three game dating period is over we are married now. Now let’s deal with the ebbs and flows as a first time HC and an OC coming out of the Pac12 with zero NFL experience cut their teeth in an Uber competitive league.

I want accountability. I want adjustments as the game progresses. I want smart time management. I want solid effort. I am confident we will have all those in abundance as the season progresses. I anticipated a .500 type of year just a month ago and was cool with that, so let’s not let a hot start against poor opponents allow us to jump to ridiculous overreaction.

I was SO on the changed my expectations train. Pretty natural. Then again, if we knock off the 29ers, I'll def. get back some confidence.

We were never expected to have a 17-0 dynasty season; most expected 8-11 wins. Losing two games won't derail our season. I would be apprehensive if the players are not buying into the new system, or if something on the confidence or lack of after five games.

I don't think that is the case here, as we are only FIVE games into the season.

Seahawks:

2009 - 5-11 Mora out and Pete In & Cleans House
2010 - 7-9 - Playoffs, but with a losing record. 2 game improvement.
2011 - 7-9 - Missed the playoffs and ZERO record improvement and I can't remember but patience wearing thin on Pete at this point.
2012 - 11-5 - Break Out
2013 - 13 -3 SB Win

It took PC his third season realistically to show he built something real and even then it did not show until midway through that 2012-2013 season. As much as we enjoy the Beast Quake game, a 7-9 team in the playoffs is more of an indicator of a bad division than a good team and it was a big case of "any given Sunday".

2023 - 9-8 - Winning Record, Pete Out, MM in & Cleans House
2024 - 3-2 - 5 games in. Playing 4 bad teams and 1 good team.

So yes....I think truly MM's make/break is going to come down to realistically season 2 (2025) or even 3 (2026). It's almost as if everyone forgot after amazon prime and the microwave that good things take time. That batter still looks wet in the oven until about a half hour in, it finally starts to look like a cake but even then it's still undercooked. Right now the batter smelled good, and we started taking bites as soon as it was put in the cake pan..and turns out it's not edible. It hasn't even started baking yet. This is also a warning, that it may start to look like a cake at some point, but it's still not done yet. The sad part is...you still have to wait for it to completely bake before you know it's good or trash too...

While I am on record as having predicted a loss, this is precisely the type of game the Seahawks win. Just when we all get suckered into believing they are going to lose, they win.

If you are a long time diehard, you should know that by now. If you are new, don’t be surprised if they win Thursday night.

And you also sound like you mistake the 49ers for being the fully healthy powerhouse team people expected. They are not, hence their 2-3 record.

I agree we have seen the Seahawks time and time again lose a game they should win, and win a game they should lose. So a win would not surprise me, but i would not put my money on it.

I disagree with your conclusions, quoting your statistics, Pete's team improved on Mora's and Mora's team wasn't as good as Hawks 2023.

We need to be patient, but I have expectations too, that is at least matching last years record.

I respect that you disagree. I will say....if your expectation is only to match last years record. They still seem very capable of matching if not beating last years record. Also on paper just from skills alone. Didn't this team lose talent vs gain talent? I believe they took on Williams this year, but losing players like Diggs and Wagner would say there was a drop in talent to start the year? and I'm not even counting Adams because...well...i think it was obvious he was a shell of what he sort of produced.

Now that we agreed to disagree, I shall say that our talent level improved. Last season, Jamal wasn't a factor, and Diggs didn't play well. Ranking and rating-wise, Love is on par with Diggs? LB wise, yes, we may have taken a step backward, that say, Bobby's game developed a few holes as he ages, coverage being one of them. But we drafted Murphy which improved our DL.

I think our roster is as strong if not stronger than 2023.

I would be happy if the team play with spirit, not looking disinterested.
This.

I'd like to see the team take steps in the right direction. Have fight in them even though many important players are injured. I'm certainly giving MM and the staff time.

They are going to lose games this year . It sucks but he needs time .

It actually reminds me a lot of week 2 last year. The Seahawks lost 30-13 week one to the Rams who everyone thought was supposed to be bad. Then your fan base thought you were going to get beat down in Detroit because they had just knocked off the Chiefs

The only difference in this one is the 49ers are coming off a loss too so you are going to get 125% effort

I honestly could care less about wins and losses this season. I'm just happy change was made and there's a plan going forward. Concentrate on fixing the Oline and defense and take it from there.

The loss to the Giants doesn’t bother me. Yes I understand this is going to take time to develop the team under a new coach.

What bothers me, is we have GM that undervalues interior lineman and year after year, our biggest problem has been the interior line. I am losing all confidence that this will be addressed and fixed as long as John Schneider remains with the team

I wasn't going to weigh in on this thread, but it's weird revisionist history to say Pete was terrible in his first two seasons here.

In 2011 there wasn't much heat on Pete for a number of reasons:
- We had all seen dramatic overall improvement in 2010 with a huge roster turnover and the biggest playoff upset in NFL history (at the time).
- The defense was vastly improved and we were enthusiastic about most/all? of our defensive personnel
- Fan focus was on the offense and finding the "QBOTF"; TJack and Whitehurst dominated discussions. TJack's pec injury was viewed as a mitigating factor, but he finished with 14 TDs to 13 INTs and a 79.2 passer rating.
- We were 7-7 with two games to go, then dropped a game against the 12-3 49ers 17-19, and the last game in OT against the Cards. TJack took most of the heat in these games (rightfully or wrongfully).

I began this year guessing 9-8. NOT as an expectation but just as a guess. I don’t care if we lose out IF we are developing a team for the future. But of course that means every Geno snap is a wasted snap for Howells development or for information needed for a future QB decision.
