PFF ranked our DL #23 in the league, with big cat playing the best ball in his career. The ranking didn't factor in Murphy's performance which is rated extremely high by experts on dot net. PFF also didn't factor in the genius level coaching by Macdonald.

I rank our DL #5-#10., what about you? Screenshot 2025 06 25 20 59 26 81 40deb401b9ffe8e1df2f1cc5ba480b12

It's an awfully old D-line. Williams, Reed, Johnathan Hankins, DeMarcus Lawrence? Good grief.

Old man strength!

Old man wisdom and precision as well.

Proven trust that coaches can rely on to show the way.

The bell curve medium for full development of the prefrontal cortex is 25 years of age.

Followed by the collection of continued cause & effects experiences in following years.

It's why the young ones are such exploratory risk takers.

Driving too fast.

Jumping off of bridges into the water below.

Sometimes with unintended life altering consequences.

Experienced players that can be trusted to show the way are instrumental in coaching and development efforts.

Valued team members.

Every team needs them in every field of human development.

PFF is a Fantasy Footballers drool dream.

It’s shit. Been shit, biased shit, horse shit, bullshit, and any other kind of shit. It spins shit to make it just confusing enough that people go “oh.. yup okay!” used like it but, they over complicate stuff and mislead as lot. If a favorite player of theirs isn’t in the top they’ll move goal post after goal post until they’re at the top and then have an bullshit reason and “formula”

Tell us how you really feel. I think your holding back.

Our dline is a strength. If you look at Mafe, Hall, Reed, Leo, Murphy, Nwosu and certainly the subtraction of that overpaid Donkey....we are good; real good. This defense is going to be something special. Then PFF clownboy will just rank us better. This PFF stuff just came out of the woodwork one day and has risen too far.

The media and various football sites have been unusually dismissive of everything Seattle this offseason (more than usual). Somebody's going to be wrong. Thankfully TC is right around the corner so we can just get on with it.

I like their logic: Williams is their 4th best DL in the league, Reed has been playing at a high level, and Mafe needs to become an above-average pass rusher for this unit to become average.

Cool. So those three guys need to be above average in order for them to be an average DL? Does Byron Murphy figure into any of this since he actually plays on the DL unlike Mafe who’s an OLB? Or if we’re counting OLB does Lawrence magically suck now that he’s not playing in Dallas?

None of this matters since their rankings will have no bearing on how many games we win, but I am taken aback at what passes for analysis these days.

Our D was top ten last half of last season, and we won 6 of our last eight games. Anyone think we falling back to the first half of last season for any stretch of this year?

I don't know, I hope not, but our D played pretty poorly in 3 of our final 4 games. The 1 they played well in was against a Bears offense that was in shambles, and was quite literally the worst offense in the league. In the other 3, they gave up 30 to GB, 27 to Minny, and 25 to the Rams backups.

I've found it pretty interesting how it seems like nearly everyone here has either forgotten or disregarded how poorly our D played in those last 4 games, outside of the Bears game.

I'm not saying I think our D will be bad. I don't think that at all. I just think it's still a work in progress and I'm a little surprised that it appears so many here seem to believe a top 10 D is a foregone conclusion.

I can't speak for the others, but for toffee, my homerism runs at 120% in the off season. My front office, coaches can do no wrong in the off season.

You could post about oatmeal recipes and you'd get my thumbs up just because of the number of times you said " shit " . Quite possibly my favorite word of all time. In fact, including that word multiple times in an oatmeal recipe would be awesome and I would buy a cookbook from you.

As for the thread subject, the D line really is the only part of the defense I have any concern about. As stated by others, I think the run defense will be fine. The pass rush really hasn't been addressed as much as I would like. Maybe I'm still spoiled by our Bennett / Avril combo of old. Or maybe the coaches are planning some fun blitz packages to give it a boost.
