The game this week is worth watching. Every positive play... every scoring drive, impressive pass... everything that Fields might do to contribute to a win is a nail in the career coffin of Me3. If Fields impresses this week, i doubt they go back to Russ unless the wheels fall off at some point later in the season. Pittsburgh has the EXACT ingredients in place to allow Fields to grow into their franchise guy if he has it in him - solid defense. Solid running game. Control the clock, limit mistakes, manage the game. There's no upside for Pitt in letting Russ do that. He no longer has the X factor to warrant starting for them if Fields plays above average to good ball.

Russ's career is on the line sunday.
The thing is Fields has no problem being in the role of "Game Manager".
Me3 on the other hand despised it and wanted to "Cook" it up.
I think the Steelers have seen what he's about and that's himself.

That's kind of crazy talk or wishful hatred to think Sunday will be Russ's career. Im pretty sure they will release Russ or trade him and can play for another team. I also doubt, Fields can maintain being average. He will screw up eventually, especially when they ask him to win it.

He had a tunover free game last Sunday, so i give him that. He can run but not sure if he will be able to take all those continues hits and be able to hit his throws when they need it.

Fields will do good against Broncos if he just runs the ball. The Stealers defense alone can win them the game against the Broncs as that offense is terrible. He just cant turn the ball over. Maybe just let the RB beat the Broncos, just like Walker did for us. Should be an easy win for the Stealers.

Still calling obvious, valid criticism of Russ hate? It wasnt hate when some wanted him traded. Wasnt hate when he was shipped out. Wasnt hate when it was predicted he woukd fail his first year in Denver... or his 2nd year. It wasnt hate when it was predicted there would be little market for him. And it wasnt hate when some saw a reality where he cpuld play backup to a borderline bust, 4th year player in Fields.

Russ has little to offer a team looking to groom a young qb because he's not the type to teach xs and os. And as was proven this offseason when any of the 31 teams in the league could have acquired his services for free as a starter or bridge, 29 teams said no thanks. Why would one of them trade for him now?

No one wanted him in March because the league knows who he is. Why woukd they give up draft capital for him now?

And even if a team was dumb enough to give up something for him, his career is for all intents and purposes, over - at least the one that saw him have any aspirations of making the HOF

The only wishful thinking going on is wishing he can somehow resurrect his career.

The Russell Wilson show closed its curtains in 2020. Everything since then has been a slow sad death. At some point he will pull the plug himself so that folks dont forget that for a period a hald decade ago he was a pretty good qb.

I wonder how Russ's greatest and now probably last homeboy (john63) is taking all this?
Any of you find him in the pissburg forums? Seems he disappeared as "dean whoever" when me3 left Denver. I hear there are some good mental institutions in Colorado, Glenwood Springs ring a bell..

Sean Payton probably had bounty gate 2.0 on Wilson. Smart move not to play him.
You appear to be a strong supporter of #3 . (No cap)

Why do you think he's not playing this Sunday against Payton?

I think he doesn't want to take a chance of being embarrassed by Denver in front of the fans and the world. If anyone knows what #3 can and more importantly NOT do , it would be Sean Payton. I bet he was licking his chops hoping Wilson would start 😆

It's much more convenient to be injured , preserving what little pride he might have left.

If he doesn't play Sunday it's because of his injury. There no conspiracy for the Stealers to coverup or"coddle" Wilson from Sean Payton. Wilson was named starter, it's just bad luck he got injured. I really wanted to watch this matchup

I dont think Shittsburgh is coddling him either. But I 100% think he's ok with not going head to head with Peyton and the Broncos after how disastrous his tenure there was. Russ was known to have a fragile ego and psyche. So much so that the FO and Pete were careful NOT to bring in anyone who might be seen as competition for him while he was here - and we know how he handled Geno pushing into his turf. Pete protected him from criticism from teammates and systemmatcally dismantled the defense to keep him sheltered. That was criticism from his own team. How much harsher do you think that criticism will be Sunday from his FORMER teammates and now, opposition? They would be rabid, yapping at him all game, in his face every play, taking every opportunity at their disposal to get him on the ground in as unfriendly a way as possible.

I think Russ is perfectly fine staying in the shadows and avoiding the potential embarrassmnet of getting his butt handed to him by SP and a defense that would no dount be hyped beyond belief to crush him.

This is the same Russ that was never injured for Seattle. Played through all sorts of injuries till that finger break. Feel like a calf injury wouldnt keep most QB's out. Not like he runs a ton these days.

If he doesnt play soon though I think he's done. No other team is going to bother.

I also wonder if he's burned his bridges in Seattle post career. I feel like the likes of Sherman, Wagner made amends with the org. The fan base kind of soured on him after the trade and his comments after.

Was just gonna say the same
Even when injured he was in no way gonna let geno outshine him imho so he had to get back out and play even when he couldn't throw and pc wasn't gonna embarrass him n bench him which he shoud've
If what I think happened is what did than his mindset has changed and he realizes his shortcomings now and this probably will be his last year playing football , just my two cents

It feels like he's lost his hunger. Ever since his mentor died his careers been on the decline and just making dumb decisions on and off the field, getting poor advice etc.

A so-called great QB needs a male "mentor" to play a game well?
I'm not sold on that being the case, this what he has his wife for.
Unless there was a hidden thing going on?

Id say Bryce Young could use some Russell Wilson mentoring on the sideline
