So I just wanted to bring up a few huge quotes after this loss that Mike Macdonald said on his morning show that I never would hear from PC and it makes me very optimistic and it plays right into his mantra of accountability:
"It starts with me"
"I'm responsible for how they play"
"It starts with the head coach especially if I'm calling the defensive plays"
and my absolute favorite one "we gotta make sure we're asking guys to do things they can do"
The last one is the biggest one. Every morning after a loss, PC would talk about how there was just a few minor things that didn't go their way or needed to be tightened up on a game changing play and how his ultimate game plan just didn't open up like he wanted. That he had all faith in his guys and just couldn't get there (or something of that nature). Eternally optimistic, but zero accountability and adaptation. But again I want to go back to this quote especially...from MM "we gotta make sure we're asking guys to do things they can do". If your players skillsets are not there to execute what you want, it's a bad game plan. You have to work schemes and gameplans that the players themselves can actually execute.
Anyway, I am very excited after this loss to see what MM changes to the skillsets of the players that are on the field. Thoughts?
