I think that'd be a good job for Pete. Rather he be with a team that has some pieces.

The funny thing is that prior to this season it was looking more and more likely that McCarthy would be fired and Quinn moved to head coach. Jerry waited a year too long for that to happen.

Deion wouldn't really fit Jerry's MO for coaching hires. He has hired just four coaches since 2003. Three of them were highly experienced at the pro level (Bill Parcells, Wade Phillips, Mike McCarthy), and the other was Jason Garrett, an in-house hire who was promoted after four years on the coaching staff, in addition to seven years with the Cowboys as a player. He was named the interim HC when Phillips was fired after starting 1-7 in 2010, finished the season 5-3 and got the main job.

I wouldn't be surprised if he tries to bring Kellen Moore back, who was once viewed as the coach in waiting, but eventually moved on. Also a decent chance he just promotes DC Mike Zimmer to the job.

Pete would make Jones feel insecure. Jerry would never let that happen

I just read an article of an Aikman interview.

Aikman assumes that McCarthy and Jones probably didn't agree on the length of contract....say, 2 years vs. 5 year contract.

Or there were other reasons they decided to part ways.

McCarthy let go? I'm thinking mutual decision or McCarthy decided to leave.

Aikman says....kind of carefully on his part what we all know....Dallas is not a place many coaches would want to be HC.....

Personnel control, and Jones didn't not spend a lot of free agents during last off-season but there was some money out there to utilize.

Would Ben Johnson want to be the HC of the Cowboys?

IMO, not a chance.

This is Jerruh's show.

You can't polish a turd and the fans and coaches around the league know this.
