I put this here partly because it's a player of ours talking about him. If I were at the age to still buy and wear a jersey of a player, I would wait to see if Michael Bennett gets re-upped here and then get his jersey. Not only is he dominant at multiple positions on the defensive line, but he's also fantastic in interviews, from RRR to talking about his recognition of the crappy D-Lineman market with Mays to these candid quotes. I love the Big Homeless. He's my favorite player on this team.

Second, who do you think even goes to Tampa Bay after Greg Schiano gets canned this year? They missed out on the Chip Kelly sweepstakes. I'm guessing no "big name" in either college or the NFL wants to go there. Darrell Bevell, come on down?

Cool quote:

Now that Bennett has relocated to the Pacific Northwest, where Pete Carroll runs an unfailingly upbeat operation, the defensive end truly appreciates the difference in leadership styles.

"It's lovely here," Bennett says. "I can't even explain to people how it is here, compared to Tampa. They wouldn't believe me."

That's a heck of an article. Their coach is done. I think the Hawks are gonna destroy TB next week.

I didn't know I could dislike Schiano even more. That article did it though. Treating his players like children, the small man syndrome, etc

This is one of my favorite parts of the article.
the enduring image from the Bucs' 31-23 defeat to the Atlanta Falcons last Sunday -- workers in hazmat suits entering the vacated visitors' locker room at the Georgia Dome -- served as a farcical metaphor for the current state of the franchise.

Forget the MRSA, the Falcons wanted to remove any residual crap Schiano may have come in contact with.

Didn't they say treating players like children would never work for Pete Carroll and that he would need a more hardline approach to ever be successful in the NFL because no players would respect him?

How is that working out again?

This is another topic entirely, but I do miss the post-Week One days where Mike Vick was back, baby! and Chip Kelly's offense was promising sixteen games of awesome video game offense from the Eagles even if Nick Foles had to step in for a game or two.

There were several teams in the running for Kelly prior to him choosing the Eagles.

I get the feeling they meant it differently for Schiano and Carroll. When talking about Schiano, it comes off like he's a hard ass, holds lots of restrictions and at the same time has a bad temper. In a sense, he treats them as if he was the parent and their his children cause he's such a pain in the ass and he likes to flex his power. Carroll on the other hand runs a very upbeat, extremely loose and fun organization. Carroll is a smart guy and pretty much knows what type of players he is targeting instead of always just getting the most extremely high profile and talented guys. Any one on this team has to buy into him and his system and he's basically running this franchise similarly to how he ran things at USC (he's made it into a college atmosphere).

This comes with good's and bad's. The goods are that the players love it, it's easier to recruit guys to join your team, and the players want to stay(especially if you're winning). The bad's are like when penalties occur or stuff gets out of hand(PEDs,penalties), and Carroll probably won't be as hard on a guy as another team but it's not necessarily a bad thing but when it turns into habit, it can affect the team because it'll start to get out of hand. He does talk about getting on a guy when you have to, and Wilson has too even though their always both usually calm and collective, but I've never seen it from them and it would be a little weird for me to imagine.

I get the impression that the team helps police itself. As more and more of them buy into what's happening they pass it on to the newer guys and work with the problem childs.

Strangely I think Pete actually runs a pretty tight ship. He lets the guys know they can dick around on free time but to get that freedom they have to toe the mark when its gametime.
