At 4-2 and coming off of a win it seems like an odd time to make a change. What is the upside?

Steelers are 2 game above .500 and figure they are not going to catch up to the Ravens. The upside is that Fields gives you average or above average play. If Wilson can provide more chunk plays to flip field position that may be enough for Tomlin. Tomlin can always go back to Fields if need be because the Steelers organization wants to make a decision with either one this off season. So having in season game tape helps with that matter. The Steelers organization always maps out a long term plan of what they want to do when it comes to roster construction. May seem odd to others but for the Steelers it is about taking care of business and seeing what Wilson can and can not do.

Wilson can do whatever, but I couldn't wait to see his lovely wife dressed in see-through cheering Wilson.

Go me3.

Fields has them tied with the Ravens for first place in the division.
How can it be mapping out a long term plan? You say Fields gives average or above average play and they are planning on switching to an aging, declining and LIMITED QB? They can't feel like Russ is the long term answer right?
It seems like this has a better chance of disrupting than improving the team...or at least that's my hope.

I agree. But i dont think Field's has necessarily done enough to give their FO security that he is worth investing in. He's played pretty well, but the dude just doesnt help himself with his negative, borderline mopey / whiney demeanor when things arent going well.

So part of me thinks its the HC sending him a message and letting him see how Russ does it. For all his quirkiness, he did have a calm, steadiness in the huddle that a QB SHOULD have. And although i grew tired of his rahrah act on the sideline, its probably more welcomed than Field's just sitting on the bench in iso mode.

Will be interesting to see how he plays.

Its good TV, if nothing else.

They likely want to showcase him for a trade.
That could go 1 of 2 ways. My gut says 2 picks, 4 sacks, a fumble and an L will lower any current trade value he may have. I guess if nobody is desperate enough to take the chance now it could possibly help.
I'm curious, what do you guys think the over/ under (conditional 6th in 25') on his trade value and how much would a win or loss change that value?

Russell Wilson vs Aaron Rodgers. There is going to be a LOT of people hate-watching that game.
Meh..maybe 10 yrs ago when they were relevant. Now it's two old guys that shoulda retired...

Bad move on Steelers part but great for comedy watching the sacks...
