This is what I'm seeing. I had hoped he would adapt to the NFL, but his whole game aura still screams college.
It's not pass the ball and play good D, it's run the ball and play good D. Look at the Ravens, they are blowing people out left and right with that run game. There defense is good, not as good as last year, but still good.

You are tracking the wrong kicker. Myer missed multiple extra point kick last year. More than one is a single game. He HAS produced record stretches of FG conversions though. And I think he has kicked more than one farther than 60 yards out, so there's that.

EDIT: I could be mistaken about the 82 in a row. We finished the year strong last year and might have piled up a bunch of TDs to go with those this year so he may have hit that many in a row. But according to my memory he didn't.
That didn't sound right to me either, but I just looked it up, and it apparently he hadn't missed one since week 5 of the 2022 season. Not sure why I felt like he had some more recent misses. He had 11 misses on XP attempts over his first three seasons with us, but that one today was just his second in the three seasons since.

He's quickly moving up the franchise points leaderboard too. He's just ten points behind Shaun Alexander for third. If he plays another season with us after this one, he'll very likely overtake Norm Johnson for #1 by the end of that season.

BS.

He shoukd have kicked the damn FG.best way to get momentum is to comeback and win a game in OT that you should have lost.

Kick the FG and let your D play free knowing they can give up 3 and still be in it.

Stipidest decision i can recall in a long long time. And Pete made his share of dumb ones. Including losing a game to the Rams because he called a TO just before they were about to kick a FG to close a lead we had. The TO gave McVay a chance to rethink the decision, he puts his offense back on the field and they score a TD after converting on 4th, after which we lost the game.
Totally agree. That was just beyond dumb. Put the pressure on their O, not on your D in OT. Just ridiculously stupid.

That’s where I’m at. The kicking game already had a miss and have dealt with blocks this year. I’m not confident he makes that kick and even if he does it still doesn’t guarantee a win. I do understand Keasely’s thought process and it’s a valid one I just still don’t agree with it

In what universe do we not kick a less than 50 yard FG to get points?

None.

No coach in the league does that. Not a single one.

Kickers miss PATs all the time. You dont pull your starting kicker in OT on a sub 50 yarder. Its not like Dickson was kicking for Myers.

A few weeks ago, Atlanta's kicker missed FG all game and when the game was on the line they marched him out and he nailed a game winner.

You just dont do that.

I think going for it was the right decision but the play was wrong.

If we had gone for and made the FG (remember we missed a PAT earlier). If the Rams did what that did in their drive we would still lose but if they did what they had done most of the game and go farward a few yards at a time an FG would give us no time on the clock (or close to it) sure that would have meant a tie but the odds of getting a foot of 4th down SHOULD be very high.

This game was so full of incredibly stupid mistakes, it´s kinda uplifting that they actually were in it until the very end. Yeah, kick the field goal in overtime. Our D had stopped them whole game.

I don't think the decision to go for it was terrible in a vacuum. The problem is that we're an awful short-yardage rush offense. That's what ultimately bothers me about not kicking the FG. Mike defended it by saying good teams can get a yard, but good coaching means acknowledging the team's weaknesses and strategizing accordingly. He didn't do that.

McDonald’s is right. Good teams can get one yard in two downs. Secondly, it wouldn’t have made a difference because we gave up a touchdown right after so if Seattle would’ve just kicked a field goal, they would’ve lost anyway.

The game wouldnt have played out the same way if we score.

And good teams with good running games get a yard most times. Not every time. Are we a good team or up and coming team? And do we have a good running game?

You take the points and lean on the aspect of the game that is working - your defense.

The odds of getting a yard are good when we have one of the worst running games in the league???

At what point this year have we been good at getting a yard??

You cant just decide that 'now we are a good team and should be able to get it' in a game like this with so much ob the line.

And in what other game when Meyers had missed an extra point did we NOT give him a chance to kick a gane winner, or game tying kick?

Answer? NEVER.

But NOW all of a sudden, Meyers cant be trusted? That's nonsense and not even the logic Mike cited in explaining his decision.

He just wanted to pull a power move and put the game away on that drive. He pushed his chips in on an 'attitude' play based on emotion rather than playing the smart strategy.

I hear you, but if you get that one yard, you are likely, not definitely, but likely to win the game. You said the defense was “working“ however they gave up a very long TD drive right after that play. Although the one yard run didn’t work neither did your theory of relying on the defense.

The players on this team are at best average as a whole. They are two years away from having a chance to turn this roster around. The only concern I have of that is, who will the quarterback be?

That’s like saying Ali should’ve traded punches with Foreman because good boxers can win a fight with one punch. Sure. It's technically accurate to say that good teams can get one yard, but can this team? That's the only question that should matter to MM and Grubb.

And let's be clear: this is the 30th-ranked rush offense. They were 2/6 running the ball on third/fourth and short going into the final two plays. It's not like they were running all over them. At some point, you've gotta put your ego to the side and get the points.

Look what happened with Buffalo yesterday. Bass was on the chopping block. Nailed a 61-yard game-winner as time expired.

The Extra Point Myers missed was actually BLOCKED, according to the commentators. Blocked in the sense it was redirected by a Rams defender's arm. Not unlike the Giants block of our FG attempt at the end of that game. So this would be the SECOND GAME-LOSING PLAY by our SPECIAL TEAMS. The kicking team unit is having problems with FG protection. Or are people saying that was a legit MISS by Myers, and NOT a Rams BLOCK? The national/RedZone team called it a BLOCK and showed the Rams player they credited celebrating the block with teammates.

All that said, didn't see MMacs presser, but I do fault Grubb for still thinking he's at UW with a good O-Line. Also fault Grubb for Geno getting hit, pressured, and sacked so many times, before FINALLY keeping more in for PROTECTION for Geno. Geno WITH TIME was carving up the Rams. And Grubb still fails to understand that K-9 is not a pile-mover, and Charbs needs to get the call for 3rd-and-1, 4th-and-1 plays.

To me the key point is this O-Line sucks, and GRUBB needs to adjust. I think Grubb is awesome, actually, WILL BE awesome once he makes the adjustments from the college game. I think the O-Line problem is LACK OF TALENT, but coaching always plays a part.

Mike Madonald disagrees with you on the talent on the team. he flat said we have the players we need. And frankly, if he cant win with who we have, he isnt worth his salt as a coach. Yo ucant have superstars at every position. Great coaching makes good players great and role players good. You see that happening on well coached teams when it doesnt seem to matter who they plug in at position X, the guy is prepared and ready to go.

Tht being said, the team performed MUCH better this game than in the previous week and fingers crossed, they get better from here.

But to argue a FG wasnt likely because Meyers missed a PAT, but then say we would have scored a TD if we pick up that yard is odd, given the entire reason we were in the position we were in was because we didnt convert several redzone opportunities.

Football is a game of momentum. If after all we'd been through, we kick that FG in OT, the D plays with a different energy and their offense doesnt have the same optimism they took onto the field after stuffing us.

We gave them opportunity AND momentum when up to that point, we had taken it back.

I never argued that a FG wasn’t likely

So easy to blame the HC. However, the PLAYERS are the ones out there making ridiculous mistakes, over and over again.
Sure, coaching matters a lot. But this is on the PLAYERS too.
