linebackers - what do we know?

LB is one of my biggest worries - any word on who might stay or go? Obviously, there are a few obvious choices to stay - but what is anyone hearing out of camp?

I think this group has a chance to be a bright spot this year. Baker and Dodson were great value singings. My biggest worry is if one of those guys in the middle get hurt. Mafe is also gonna be a stud this year.

I know LB was a weakness for us last year.

Just getting Nwosu back will help - But I don't know much about the other guys.

Pretty easy to be considered a LB guru when you have a pair of first round LB's to lead your defense, edit to add that it was technically three since Clowney was playing OLB last season.

In all seriousness, though, I honestly think that 1) Nwosu getting healthy puts us in the plus category at OLB and 2) Even if I don't think our starting ILBs are more talented overall this year, I think not having such a specific weakness this year puts us in a slightly better place overall at ILB as well.

Cautiously optimistic at LB.

Yeah that’s what I don’t understand, all damn off-season people were griping about LBers but kind of discounted the influence and impact MacDonald would have.

Rhattigan probably was the least graded LBer, last night, but he actually looked like he belonged as a NFL LBer and could play actual snaps at the position and hold his own. And that type of growth is exciting for future prospects. For example, Knight might have to season for a year or two but by year 3 or 4 he might be transformed into sturdy if not quality or more type of MLB.

He didn't look impressive in the first preseason game. He looked like a rookie free agent signing.

I think we’ll be better in pass coverage..LB wise. Pretty infuriating last year where all a team had to do on 3rd and long is throw a pass right up the middle to a TE.

You obviously want some dogs at LB but, there are packages to compensate Sam and Will (think Witherspoon being 3 x3 off the hip).

But, I’m anxious to see what happens at MLB. Although Wagz coverage ability dropped off with age, he was still a nasty run tackler. I’d much rather have an MLB that’s good against the run vs being a stud in pass coverage. Obviously, having both abilities would be nice.

Long story short… I have no idea what we’re going to do
