How is Wagner playing for the lambs? Anyone keeping tabs on their opinion? Thanks!

Still making plays, but not at a level commensurate with his current contract.

Still would be a major upgrade over what we currently have.

He made a great tackle (Headlines). If he didn't tackle, the guy would had ran all the way to the endzone,

in the 49ers game.

He's basically what he was for us last year but even a step slower than that.

That said, we would be doing so much better if we still had his leadership on the field this year.

Leadership?

Idk but Wagner didn't really have the vibe of a guy yelling and hyping people up like Sherman, Baldwin or Kam.

Not that kind of leadership.

He was the defensive captain in the MLB spot. That's about as close to a QB you have on the defensive side. He helped make sure everybody was in their place and knew their assignments on top of his.

That's what we're missing right now.

$18 mill worth? Not gonna get into that discussion, especially if you're thinking the next 3 years or so. I'm good with him being a Lamb.

I'm not saying we should be paying him what Los Angeles is paying him or that we were even wrong for moving on. (We thought we were going to have Adams on the field and we were going to have a new scheme anyway).

I'm just saying the clearest hole to our defense right now is a veteran providing on-field leadership.

BWagz would have been a huge upgrade over Barton. There is some benefit in watching Brooks grow over the season. It's a pretty simple cost/benefit equation. It probably makes the difference in some games over one season. But...probably not the difference in making the playoffs. Save the Cap, see how Brooks does, address in the off-season. Win a lot more games in '23.

He's home. He's on a D full of leaders, he doesn't need to be one, though he is part of the overall group of D veterans.

It is probably relaxing to him.

Which may be showing on his on field play so far. We will see...

Rams D this year definitely doesn't have the school fight in the mud energy that his hey day did in Seattle.

A big part of what we're missing right now and something that strangely does not get brought up is that Bobby was a film junkie and was great at diagnosing run plays. Brooks still has not gotten there. He continues to call the line directions incorrectly. He is being fooled by the offense and we are leaving huge gaps because of it.
