The Bears offense did get better immediately when he took over from Waldron. Hard for him to get a lot of wins, though, with an injury-riddled OL.

I think it's only fair to look at each candidate that gets an interview holistically. Brown was with the LA Rams for 3 seasons and was McVay's assistant head coach his last 2 years there. Before that he oversaw the RBs at South Carolina and Miami before that. He also has experience at 2-3 other colleges. At those stops, each offense had a good running attack.

I assume he will run some form of the McVay offense because Waldron comes from that tree and Brown also has coached under McVay. Both Waldron and Brown were a part of the Bears' coaching staff on the offensive side. He called plays for the Bears when he took over for Waldron. Things improved in terms of ball distribution but they weren't all roses or exciting. The Bears' offensive looked its best when Brown was just the O.C and was able to concentrate on that but fell off again when he became the interim head coach.

So all in all, he was a hot and on the rise type of coach before he went to the Panthers and the Bears. He is considered pretty smart but so was Shane Waldron. I don't know if I'm truly excited about this. He has worked with 2 young QBs in Bryce Young and Caleb Williams during their rookie seasons. Neither of them looked all that great.

If you can somehow pull it up, look how many 1st half passing yards the Bears had with him as Head Coach. I would say 75%+ of the games were under 50 yards passing in the first half.

The whole 2nd half was garbage time and those numbers bumped up with the back ups in on the opposing defense.

Just a strong pass for me!

Mike knows Brown from their days at Georgia so they have some sort of alignment and familiarity. I don't think we end up with Brown. He wouldn't be my first choice. I thought he did fine at Carolina and Chicago with the cards he was dealt but I'm not looking for "fine"

They are just trying to bring in as many guys as they can so they feel more confident about who they bring in.

I trust Mike in whoever he decides at the end of the day

It seems everyone (a lot of dot net) has their heart set out for the Lions OL coach right now.

Without knowing how Mac views any of these prospects.

Mac runs the show now and it will be telling on who Mac decides on and I’m positive it will NOT be a Schneider decision.

Let’s see how it plays out!

Seriously doubt it.
Have you lstened to Sando on Hawkblogger from today? Id recommend it. There's a lot more happening at that level of interview than simply filling one position. Sando explains it better than I can.

From what I've seen about him is, he came from Mcvay's staff. He was an assistant/ head coach then. He was hired by Frank Reich in 2023 to be the OC. He had his play calling duties taken from him during that season. The Bears picked him up when they picked up Waldron. After the Bears fired their head coach and Waldron. He took over and won 1 game. This is why I say it's the rooney rule, because he hasn't been very impressive. He sounds like a good candidate to pick up as an assistant from what I see.

Thank the NFL and the rest of the corporate world for introducing that garbage instead of 'best person for the job. Full stop.'

You notice how Fresno Hawk's FIRST inclination was to go straight to "he's only getting an interview because he's black"? Not his credentials? Actually, why am I even wasting my time trying to explain this to you? Nevermind.

If the Rooney rule didn't exist, then that thought wouldn't even cross people's minds. What do you expect people to think when you force interview quotas based on race?

You should be calling out race based hiring practices if you truly believe in equality and hiring based on merit.
