Did you see the ending to the recent Broncos - Chiefs game?
Whump wah....
I did, part of why I don't have KC as favorites in Denver.
The Mahomes hate is real. You can't take away his accomplishments just because they struggled against a division rival. That's par for the course. Brady won 6 rings and was good for at least one stupid loss against Miami, Buffalo, and the Jets at least every couple of years. The talent gap isn't THAT wide. What matter is how they play in the clutch. KC lost to both Denver and Vegas last year, and went 11-6 and were the 3 seed, and walked over Buffalo and Baltimore on the road.
Haters gonna hate.
Mahomes has struggled against pressure all season, it wasn't just this past game.
It's hilarious that Kirk Herbstreit was going on and on about the Chiefs' offensive line as the problem for that team... meanwhile, that offensive line going into the game had the number one run block win rate, the number 4 pass block win rate, the longest Time-to-Pressure rate of any team in the league, and the lowest run stuff rate in the league.
They actually have been a f'ing elite offensive line but because Mahomes has been so pedestrian when dealing with pressure, all of a sudden, the narrative becomes the offensive line is the problem... meanwhile Mahomes actually holds onto the ball longer than anyone not named Lamar Jackson when under pressure.
Nobody (at least not me) is trying to take away Mahomes accomplishments. (Not sure what that means, honestly.)
Mahomes is a great QB, a first ballot HOFer, and 2022 will go down as an all time season. Last year, Mahomes played like a good QB on a team with a great defense. This year, he's playing like a good QB on a team with a mediocre defense trending downwards.
I'd much rather be the worst 10-1 team of all-time than the best 1-10 team of all-time, but I don't buy the 'we'll just turn it on when it matters' narrative. We saw this play out with the Eagles last year, the Vikings the year before. For some reason, it was perfectly acceptable to point out (on this board even!) that the Eagles and Vikings didn't look as good as their record... so what is the issue with pointing out something similar for the Chiefs?
