Can’t say much about Diggs. It was a good acquisition at the time.

I just wish we would’ve got the injury free Adams. He was beyond talented. Coverage was always sus but, he was the true definition of a “dog”.

If he could’ve stayed free of injury, no one would’ve been complaining about the steep trade cost.

Could’ve, should’ve, would’ve….

I’m glad we moved on.

The safety position has been devalued this year. There's a saturation of them and good ones in college. Probably the same with WR, lots of beasts coming out of college whereas the year before there was less so.

I think injuries have screwed with Adams. We might give him a minimal deal to try him at LBer/pass rusher but I doubt his pride would allow it or risk further injuries.

Diggs will land somewhere on a cheap deal before the season or if a team gets injuries.

We spent way too much cap space on the safety position

Perhaps this should be in the NFL Forum.

As far as their being unsigned, neither of them deserve to be signed with how they played last season.

I believe this was the biggest area of improvement in the off-season. Replacing both who couldn't tackle or cover with two guys that can tackle and are much better in coverage. Jenkins was very good in coverage. Julian Love was our best player in the backfield last season. Safety should be a strong suit this season. It's CB that I'm worried about now.

One down as Adams was signed by the Titans today. He in my opinion was the way better signing than a guy like Diggs who with no excuse whatsoever, pretty much gave up on many plays.

There imo were plays that were game costly that he just gave up on or was lost entirely

I'd be shocked if Adams's deal is much more than vet minimum, with more than minimal guarantees.

The play the glares out to me?
When Diggs just stood there and let an RB run right by him into the EZ
it was totally unprofessional, he made no effort whatsoever to stop him.
I never thought I'd see a Pete player on D ever do that.

This is truth.

I would like to add that Mr Coby Bryant could be a part of that safety group . He played well before being injured .

At the time, I deferred to Pete's judgement on player acquisitions, at least on the defensive side of the ball. Pete's call on the Adams trade was one of the things that caused me to sour on him.

Having a safety whose coverage is 'sus' is like having a chicken salad without the chicken. It's their primary task. If your front 7 is doing its job, then there is no need to rely on a safety to get pressure on the QB and no need to rely on your safety to make tackles.

There were more problems with Adams besides his injuries. Two years after the trade, Pete was still trying to figure out how to best utilize him. Offenses had gotten wise, would send a TE or RB to account for Adams anytime he threatened the LOS. It will go down as one of the worst trades in franchise history.

Sadly, this seemed to be a common theme among veteran/FA acquisitions. Hopefully Macdaddy won't have that issue.

Yeah, I think Pete was thinking of Troy Polamalu when he traded for Diggs. But Polamalu was a playmaker and could cover. Adams was a one trick pony who had interceptions bounce off his facemask.

In any event, I'm damn glad that this saga is finally over, that we don't have to worry about JS resigning him. I started to take a personal dislike towards the man after some of the crap he pulled last season.

Diggs and Adams both signing with the Titans. Good luck with all that.
