Just not seeing it against good defenses. I'd put him in the catagory of a good regular season QB but can't handle the playoff pressure with the likes of Dak Prescott and Kirk Cousins.

I don't see any upgrade bringing him in here.

As much as many here hate it, any of the replacement options they deem better options (Darnold, Baker, etc...) are AT BEST lateral moves. I would argue without improvement in the o-line/running game they'd be noticeably worse with us than Geno. None of them would be better

Lots of qbs can look good behind a line that gives them 3 seconds to throw consistently. Very few can get pressured right away and still playing well.

Have to say though, a few of those sacks on Darnold are the playcaller's fault - longer developing routes on short distance downs with no outlet.

But yeah. Pumpkin time for Darnold.

This is true, LA is dialing up the pressure a bit and the play calling has been slow to adjust. Does KOC call the plays on offense?

But, yeah, Darnold has had really bad happy feet in the pocket, he's holding the ball forever on even wide-open screens, and now he's just missing dudes on wide open plays with no pressure.

He's definitely in his head. He came into this game exactly as he left the game last week.

A thought and a speculation:

McVay knows Darnold real well, the Rams' defense benefited from his knowledge.

If we were the wildcard, we could handle the Rams better than the Vikings.

Depends on which Hawks team shows up - the one that played the Pack or the one that played Minny....

Darnold being a spaz doesn't surprise me. KOC not sticking with the run early when the Rams were getting way too much pressure and they were running pretty well is confounding. They had a 2nd/3 after getting 7 on a first down run early in the game. They went play action and it was a jailbreak. If play action on 2nd/3 doesn't slow down the rush, you have a scheme/sequence problem.

They should've stuck to the run to back the rush off and settle Darnold down a bit

Having a defense pass rusher 2-3 feet from you would be different from 3-4 feet. QB has to amend the projectile to avoid the raised hands of a 6'5" pass rusher, which increases difficulty and requires nimble footwork or contortionist-like body control, or both.

I seriously wonder how many millions of dollars are not coming Darnold's way after the last two weeks?

Darnold didn't have a good game, but the Vikings were seriously out-coached.

Yup. We had the same issue all year for the same reason. We called plays like We were pulling Bingo numbers. The Vikes never put the Rams on their heals, despite having the weapons to do so. And Darnold doesnt have the inate ability to create a ton when things dont look great. Guve him time and straightforward read progressions and he can deal. Bring pressure and show him something he isnt expecting and he starts to doubt things.

It also smelled a lot like O'connell was trying to make it a pass play-callers duel rather than acknowledging his QB is good but not Stafford good, and could have used some help managing the game.
