How was Wilson not fair game to be blocked?

Wilson was fair game to be blocked - but you don't need to go in with a shoulder charge to do that and free the runner, he could have gone in with hands up for a proper block but that was a hit for the sake of hitting (and he admits as much).

Kam was at trying to prevent a catch and if you go in easy there it is almost certainly a reception.

So I guess this means that Clay Matthews won't speak about the actually infamous hit on Russ when he launched airborne from the side and placed the crown of his helmet directly on the earhole of Russ's helmet? That one was attempted flippin' murder.
Attempted murder? A little bit of histrionics there bub. I grew up watching NFL football, it had some things in common with heavyweight boxing. Hitting hard is part of the game, the best part of the game. It is the equalizer, where you can take an OJ, Barry or Montana and bring them back to Earth. Modern football, is Frazier vs Ali, and they wear headgear, and no punches allowed above the neck or below the waist. STUPID and a bit boring. They get paid muliple millions of $$$$, do you think they would quit if there was a return to Football of 1970's and 80's?

Lol please. Kam was laying the wood, he wasn't playing patty-cake, same with Mathews. If the QB throws a pick and is trying to stop the defender, I'm doing the same thing. It's part of the game and it was a legal block.

If Rodgers threw a pick and Wagner put the same hit on him you'd be laughing and celebrating.

I suspect Russ would laugh at many of these comments. He said "It's football" nothing more. Dude can take a hit, always could.

If an offensive player "blocked" Clay Matthews the same way he "blocked" Russell Wilson it would almost certainly be a 15 yard flag - a shoulder charge isn't a block. Defensive players can tee off on the offense but it doesn't seem to work the other way around.

The intent was to injure Russ. Whether you consider it a dirty way to play is up to you. His intent was to injure the QB and knock him out of the game though.
