Dude just got released outright by Pete and the Raiders, dude was a top 100 player in 2023, and he is 29 years old. Can someone who knows the cap stuff educate me on the $$ of picking him up since the Raiders will be paying him?

I apologize but I don't have any idea how that would work. I did look somewhere and it said he had a "Jones " fracture .

What is that ? Is it a career altering injury where they're never the same?

The other thing I thought about is Pete Carroll is the kind of guy that does everything he can to keep a good player around whether it's an injury , conduct etc...

What happened to make even Pete Carroll say he's had enough?

Apparently Wilkins had a foot injury and had surgery. The team's Doc and the other 4 docs opined for him to have another surgery but he declined. He wanted to play though it but he didn't pass physical or the team put him on PUP.

He's a star and he could be signed on the cheap?

Thank you.

It would be nice to have one more great option for the line.
I'm sure the team could make provision in his contract for further injury

Maybe sign him for 2 years, let him have the second surgery sit this year, then next year let Reed walk and he can take over.

I’m solidly in the no thanks camp
I'm with you once I researched their situation a little more.
Oakland is basically saying he tried to scam them and I believe this will be litigated . This is never a good thing. These teams deal with injuries every season and this seems next level .

Not a good look for Wilkins

Wilkin was an excellent DT before his injuries, and he could be signed very cheaply. I don't see why not? Pete and his boss will be paying and we stand to benefit.

Wilkins is an exceptional player but is likely to be out for the best part of the season as he heals not wanting surgery.

The team really needs help with the edge rush and not with the interior DL. As nice as it would be to have this proven but youngish player at DT the price would need to be really right and I just don't see that being the case.iHowever, if the Raiders position on guaranteed $ isn't upheld then he could just be cheap enough to really add strength going forward to an already strong but aging interior DL

I'm more interested in available edge rushers yet somehow suspect they too might just costa lotta more than the team wants to spend right now.

Wilkins is now a UFA. He doesn't have sign with anyone. He might not be able to play for most or all of this season. If he does choose to sign somewhere else it won't be with a cheap 2026 option.

Foot issue? What foot issue? Here dancing in clogs just a few days ago:

He may be cleared for ballroom dancing but not football. If the fracture isn't healing right, athletic activity could worsen things. Lots of guys with fractures are doing pretty normal activities long before they are cleared to play.

Nonetheless, I have a feeling there's a problem with the player that goes beyond the injury.

And that screams red flags. So hard no on picking him up. Life ain't Madden. If the dude doesn't fit on a Carroll team, I don't want him on mine.

I am hoping that our Willi Schneider will look into Wilkins.

Injury to the little toe can be very irritating but it is nothing like a injury to the big toe. I could see him playing through what ails him and it will heal over time. I am surprised though that he is rejecting corrective surgery. That might make it heal better and a lot faster.

Maybe he wants out of Vegas and joins a true contender, a team with a guru-level defense-minded HC? If such an opportunity presents itself, Wilkins will sign immediately.

Seahawks need a run stuffer at DT more than anything else
