Seems like there used to be a cancel button. I agree, there should be one. Was there ever an answer for this question?

So do you really have to delete your way out of a post if you click the wrong button? Seems like there should be a cancel button
Sorry, this sub forum doesn’t see much traffic, so it’s easy for us to miss new posts.

The answer is no, there is no cancel button.
I get frustrated same as you, the platform simply doesn’t have it.

Side note
You can always PM any of the admins or mods if you don’t get a timely response to Wilkie this.

Sometimes if you quote somebodys long post and then realize you didn’t mean to you gotta delete a book
Yeah, this can be annoying....and no one really wants to read a 2000 word essay on any topic here. Brevity, conciseness is your friend.
I'd be on board for a word-count limit.

Agreed. Lot of novels lately. It stinks of ego sandwich. Probably due to our current bandwagoness.

It’s faster to post it and delete it than to back out
Really?
I just highlight what I intended to enter and hit backspace. (laptop)
If we are talking about after starting a thread, that would be a mod
request delete.

A maximum character limit would be better than a word-count limit. Otherwise 'Long Swords' can get very, very long. (Apologies to anyone on a mobile). 🥺
