"He ends his tenure as Bears coach 14-32, including a 4-8 record in 2024".

Perhaps the worst game management in an NFL game that I've ever witnessed live. Although yesterday's fiasco was by far the worst, it wasn't the only end of game screw up that the Bears had. The Bears had never fired a head coach during the regular season, a fact that they were proud of.

It will be interesting to see how the Bears navigate the next few years. They've been in negotiations with the City of Chicago over a new stadium deal, and this mess isn't going to help their cause.

2-13 against the division
3-19 on the road
5-19 in one score games

That says it all. He was lucky to last this long.

At the end of the Lions game it almost looked like he was trying to get fired.

Never understood the appeal or why he was even hired as HC. To hire a defensive minded coach to HC requires them to be really exceptional and Eberflus was very good but he was not exceptional IMO.

He should have been fired in 2023, but Poles and Flus are pals. I feel sorry for Caleb. Can you imagine being a rookie QB and having your offensive coordinator and head coach so damn incompetent that they are fired mid season?

Even so, we are competitive with the Lions. With a good head coach and offensive line upgraded next year, we should be in contention. Flus alone costs us 3 games. He’s even worse than Trestman.

They must have been planning this move for awhile and already have a replacement in mind. Otherwise it's a tough time of the year to be trying to lure someone in for the job.
He was definitely on the hot seat already but I'm pretty sure this firing is in direct response to the game on Thursday.

They aren't going to try and get a new head coach for this season, they'll run an interim and basically try and remove as much of Eberflus' influence as possible to close this out. This way they can begin scouting in earnest and also the interim guy can make a case for getting the job.

Believe you me, He earned this firing... The end of that game was absolutely horrible the only thing that topped it was the end of the Raiders game, the Raiders said "Don't forget about us, we can F'up a game too"... 🤣🤣

The Bears are in negotiations with the City of Chicago for a new football stadium, and after that debacle on Thanksgiving Day in front of a nationwide audience that even the casual fan could clearly understand that it was a monumental F-up, they almost had to fire him.

Plus, keep in mind that they had some very controversial endings to previous games this season that resulted in their defeat. After a promising 4-2 start, the Bears are now 4-8 having lost 6 in a row. They have less than a 1% chance of making the playoffs, so it's a lost season anyway. Eberflus was skating on thin ice at the start of the season, so there was no sense in waiting simply to uphold their record of not having fired a head coach in the middle of the season.

Brown will be interim coach. This had to be done. The players were in open revolt against Flus.

If the Hawks are still holding onto the division lead when they play the Bears, I will root for Seahawks. Just don’t tell anybody on my Bears forum! LOL
